Ok so this year i really want to go to France and ski, but i have no idea where to even start. I've been looking on google at some of the resorts, but it really hasn't been helpful. I really want to go to a less mainstream, more rustic type of town. I was thinkin La Clusaz. good place? Please give me some ideas on where to go! Thanks

because I care

france has a lot of good resorts. la clusaz is one of them. candide thovex is coming from there. its a small resort but really nice. the bigger ones are val d´isere/tiges, 3 vallee, la plagne/les arc. and for sure chamonix and les deux alpes/la grave. both freeski mekkas. i like val d´isere. nice village and a hugh resort together with tignes. its not easy to find the right one!

go to chamonix! or make it over to verbier... they have a pretty good park and the sickest big mountain skiing I've ever seen... the town is pretty sweet too...

but chamonix is my favorite place in the world

i'm from canada and just about to start my third season in france... any of the bigger resorts kick butt. freeskier had a big article on europe have a look for it on their site it gives some good guidelines... i live in la plagne (julien regnier & marie martinod home) and it is very underrated... little known but huuuuge and rocks ass.. over 200 lifts and 2 glaciers together with les arcs... anyway check that freeskier article, but if you go to any of the ones the guy mentioned above you wont go wrong.

Hi man, I come from Grenoble ( France), you know the best montains are in Alpes and not Pyrénnées,personaly I skiing in 2 Alpes, la Grave (it's beautiful!!!!),Alpe d'huez and la Clusaz. When do you want come in France?? to december or february??

ps:scuse my english

la clusaz is great, the grand bornand bigger, chamrousse kicks butt, chamonix is cool, val d'isere is sweet, les 7 laux is fun, and le praz de lys is family friendly...

im most probably going to val d'isere in january '06. as we are staying in a group of 4, i want to know if we should stay in an apartment or a hotel? the hotels seem way more expensive but they include breakfast, so are groceries or is eating out very expensive (compared to the city)?

what would locals/experts recommend?

if I ever see Shane McConkey, I'm going to point at his skis and go 'Dude, they look like waterskis!' just to keep the trend going.
