Skiing and being fit

What do you guys do to help with your skiing? Straight up free weights / classic weight training or something more of a hybrid of cardiovascular and endurance. Anyone ever hear of crossfit? I tried doing that for a bit and it totally kicked my ass. Thoughts? comments?

cardio, core, stretching ALOT, weight lifting in the traditional sense, plyometrics

cardio, core, stretching errr day

weights and plyo 3-4 days a week

Not trying to dispute the fact..of course being fit helps with skiing. Just wondering what everyone does since there is so many ways to work out *Cue LMFAO song "sexy and i know it"*

stick with crossfit dude. yeah it's super tough but it's awesome once you start getting into it. i know it's expensive but if you have the option it's perfect. but yes it most definitely has an effect on your skiing.

I think the "classic" weight is losing to other types of fitness training these days is due to a few things.

1) time - most "classic" weight training only trains 1 muscle at a time. this takes a lot of time to work out many body parts in a given session.

2) as mentioned - many newer routines favor core strength as this has been seen as a critical piece of the building blocks of fitness training.

3) newer routines also work multiple items during a given excericse

Do weighted squats 3 days a week for training your core down to your toes. Its a compound exercise and will work everything you use when you ski. For uperbody, I would also recommend 2 other compound exercises.

Pushups, Works chest, triceps and core

Pullups, Works biceps, back, core.

Ive never understood the gym thing, maybe i never will. I've always done what i find intresting. I can't lift 100kgs from bench, but i progress during summer and be fit. Trampoline and tricking does wonders. During fall i've done pushups and drilled martial arts kicks, as you can't train tricking outside.

Things that you find interesting and fun could help but honestly if you really want to get in primo ski shape or any shape for that matter. Its all about hitting the gym doing your routine, switching it up once and a while, running, doing abbs, biking, whatever. Get in the gym and get going.

Building muscles and flexibility help prevent injuries. So that is really, really important... even if you can't hike the pipe without passing out.

To really help you for skiing i believe you to do flexibility training, core training and lower body. This helps me alot and makes me for ready for year...but any workouts helps.

also trampolining also helps
