Skiing alone

i sometimes ski alone when there is nobody else to ski with. do anyone else ever ski alone? do you manage to push yourself when you are alone?

I never really grew up with people my skill or style of skiing. only recently have I Made some friends at local hills who are rippers so I always skied alone. pushing yourself is a lot harder I find it comes a lot more naturally when you ride with people who are better than yourself.

Last Saturday I was skiing (killi) with a friend but he wanted to ski the rest of the mountain and I just wanted to lap the park so we split up. I shredded harder than i maybe ever have. Nailing my swaps on every rail and I was consistently hitting a dfd gapping the last down with a back 2 which I was thinking about all morning but I was scared shitless. Ended up doing it all day and nailing it every time.

I don’t mind skiing alone but really do rather ski with friends. Skiing alone i like that I get to ski a lot faster and not have to wait for anyone. I always throw in both headphones and shred as I always do. When I get to a chairlift I’ll always look for other park riders or just anyone that seems chill and ride up with them

yeah. i sometimes ski with some older dudes. they push me a lot, but i sometimes feel a little left out because they are 25 or so, and i'm turning 16 soon. they are really helpful anyway

Yeah skiing alone is okay, I'd much rather be with homies but if I'm not l'll always look to join random shredders. N

For the most part people are chill and will start shredding with you.. just gotta make the first move and engage a convo with them lol which really isn't hard - it can be a simple as saying "rad trick man!!!"

Skiing with friends is definitely more fun and I always prefer it, but without friends is much more efficient for getting more vertical in a day. There's no one to wait for.

Last year my friend was supposed to visit and we were gonna drive a few hours to a resort and ski. He ended up bailing a few days before the trip. The resort got a little under 2ft of snow, so I went anyway. It was super fun and plus you can always chat up people on the lift. As the saying goes, there's no friends on a pow day.

I ski alone almost half the time, most of the boys do shift work like 6 on 6 off so yeah. I always seem to push myself harder alone because its easier to focus on my goal instead of having a blast with the boys trying their shit. I find it good to have a balance.

Definitely skiing w some buddies pushes you to improve more, you try to impress them and try new things. Skiing alone is still just as fun but I prefer to and tend to ski with friends only

Also...I find myself skiing alone all the time and it's the best. On random days when the mountain is empty it's rad to put some headphones on and take hot laps through the park or just cruise around the mountain. I remember when I was a kid...this was like 2004 or something, I watched Candide lap Main Park at Mammoth the whole day by himself. Slaying it of course but he just in his own zone flowing around the park. It was the craziest thing to watch. Seeing that stuck with me and it's been something that I have enjoyed ever since.

love skiing alone, gives you time to think, clear your head. also i tend to actually meet more people while solo than when im with my little clique. i find its incredibly peaceful.

i pretty much only would ski alone, no headphones either, just me and the snow

this year might try having a crew for once

Honestly hate skiing alone. I get bored really easily and would rather enjoy the fun with other people and have somebody to talk to on the lift

I ride alone quite often. Depending on conditions, I will scope out a new location to ride. Ill hike for hours and take notes on locations, get pictures for the next huck day. If conditions are rough, I practice in the park. Try to perfect a new grab.

Riding alone takes off the pressure of performance and lets you ride at your own pace.

But sometimes, I will send hard alone. It tightens the margin of error and makes me more focused during the ride. I do enjoy the feeling of watching out for yourself; you know that is something happens, you will have rely on yourself to crawl out of a terrain.

Seriously thought you were talking about 70 year old dudes for a second there.

Uuuh. I do sometimes tour with my grandpa. He's 72. So i do ski with 70 year olds.

Hey man I wasn’t trying to be rude or anything there so sorry about that. I think that’s great that you’re still shredding with your grandpa and that your grandpa still actually wants to ski. Props to you and him.

i didn't take it bad. i'm just glad i can actually tolerate someone in my fucked up family.

Always prefer skiing with the homies, usually ski alone or with some kids I blindly might meet up with. Still push myself but not as hard, kinda just stick to the book and work on cleaning everything up for when the homies are all home to film.

Don't have any friends that ski they all snowboard, so i'm skiing alone a lot. Tryna get a gang of skiers to go out with on Hood, almost everyday, including weekends, I film, don't ski too well through parks but on the mountain I like to rip.

Nobody on my hill can ever keep up when we are skiing. On days we are building jumps or don’t have good snow i will put up with it. But if the snow is any good I️ can’t deal with it.

I used to go with my dad until he tore his calf. Then went with friends until all of them quit and went to school. Cannonsburg is always filled with cool people though so it's never too bad to just go by yourself and do what you want all day.

Love skiing with friends, but a I also love skiing alone. I start work at either noon or have a 3 hour ski break mid-day, so I don't always have the opportunity to ski with friends. Snowmass is a small community though, so half the time I end up finding a friend in the lift line. But I like the freedom of riding at whatever pace I feel like for that day and not having to consult someone whether they want to ski the same terrain/way that you do that day or coordinating meeting. You can just go... or just take your time.

Skiing is like sex, it is a lot better with someone else.

But really, I have no problem skiing by myself every once in a while. Put the music in, go where I want, go at my own pace, etc.
