With the news that Warren Miller Entertainment (WME) has won the lawsuit against Warren Miller I feel that is time that we do our best to limit the success of WME. From this moment on SkiFilmReviews Ltd. officially will not promote any of WME's film tours, review any more of its films, discuss its latest releases, add any of its new releases to the film database, or sell WME products in our store. Additionally, we will refuse to enter in any advertising deals with any of their sponsors.

This boycott will continue until Warren Miller Entertainment openly withdraws the lawsuit versus Level 1 Productions and apologises. Warren Miller Entertainment has acted in a manner which we frown upon. Legality aside, the mere fact that they think they have the right to own somebody's voice and name is, in our opinions, deplorable.

We suggest that everyone who enjoys the recent Warren Miller movies watches a film from another film production company. After all, the majority of the footage shown in the new WME films is actually bought from other film studios.

Good. Now more people in the industry have to follow their lead.

I know Level 1 and Poorboyz and MSP etc. are competitors but it would be great to see the other film companies denounce WME publicly. If they can collectively sink WME it will be one less competitor.
 
The downside is WME is a pretty big company. While they suck giant cock and I haven't hated any company this much before, it would be tough to sink a company like that just from denouncing them.

Now if athletes start denouncing them... maybe we won't see another film from them anytime soon.
 
they won't because they're all too well paid and, i'm just speculating, they're probably under contracts that prevents them from doing something like that. i honestly wouldn't put it past WME to do that.
 
I have a feeling Poorboyz is locked down and cant do anything but that doesnt mean that other people shouldnt start calling them out and refusing to do business with them. Problem is people are greedy and im sure WME helps bring in a lot of business to companys.
 
Hopefully the athletes would elect not to renew their contracts with WME. How many actually have direct contracts with WME anyway? And if the magazines can refuse to run their print ads and the other film companies can show some sort of allegiance with Level 1 and Warren Miller it would surely put a dent in WME's film sales. And if Bonnier Corp decides that the WME portion of it's business isnt generating enough revenue to sustain it staying in business, maybe just maybe they would sell it off or shut it down all together.

But as mentioned in all the other threads on this topic, its not the NS & TGR demographic that need to be reminded of this. Its pretty much everyone else. Most people have no idea that Warren Miller =/= WME.

Yeah it's going to be really difficult to make an impact through the athletes, film companies, and sponsors because I wouldn't doubt that most of them are bound by contracts. If WME bound Warren Miller by a contract, I wouldn't put it past them to have contracts with these other individuals.

I think the most effective way to boycott is going to be through the consumers. We need to discourage people from spending money to go see their premieres and buying their DVD's
 
unfortunately the NS community is not the target market of the WME films so you guys boycotting it wont really have much effect
 
If people from NS can go to the premieres and inform the potential viewers what WME has done, then maybe we can get enough customers to stop supporting WME through their ticket at DVD sales. Its the most effective way
 
why can't WME just realize that all they are doing is hurting the industry, Seriously there are so many WM movie fans that they shouldn't have to worry about loosing profits. But since Newschool skiing is now killing it, the market is changing and WME can't compete, leaving them greedy and with no regard for the greater purpose of their films, to get people to ski.

Level 1, don't take this blow seriously, WME has lost sight of what capturing our sport is all about, the skiers and the fun we have pushing our limits while exploring new territories, It is NOT about making the most money.

^^^Well said, I would love to protest there film here in Helena, MT. Shitty part is they come to show there film here because it supports our local hill. It's like a big fundraiser for our volunteer ski patrol. Another option is talking to the head ski patroller and finding another fund raiser for them to participate in. I hate the fact that there too stupid to even hear about it or say maybe we should try something else!
 
for kicks and giggles i watched a WME movie off netflix. Absolute shittiest thing ever. people who like it are yuppy 45 year olds who think looking at shitty skiing is fun. not at all fun. I WOULD RATHER WATCH A WESTSIDE HAVOC FILM.

warren miller entertainment's got AIDS anyway. their premieres will soon consist of 100% gaper population. (not that they didnt before)
 
as much as i would like to see this happen, im just not sure that the industry can just completely shut out wme. maybe if people stopped watching theyre new movies and stuff like that, it could catch on, but its really just wishfull thinking.. it would be nice though
 
Hey guys, thanks for all the support! I know we're not a very big operation but I reckon if I persuade at least one person who belongs in WME's target market that I've done something good.
We really need to do our best to stop WME screwing over the little person.

every one needs to go to the premier and protest the new WME movie. my hometown also has a fundraiser type of setup with the WME premier but i talked to them about this whole issue last year and they premiered the TGR movie instead. the whole town was stoked because TGR makes way better movies anyway.
 
I have told a bunch of people about all the shit WME has done. yet they still continue to go to the movie premieres for the free lift ticket.... I believe if somehow we could convince the mountains giving away the lift tickets to cut ties with WME it would be more effective than anything else. Also if people could go to the doors of the premieres handing out pamphlets stating all the shit going on, we could inform a lot of the people who don't have any clue of the situation.
 
It sucks cause gapers gonna gape, I'd bet 90% of the corduroy carving tools at a WME show wouldn't even be interested in a rap laden jib flick like level one. As much as we all hate it, they have a huge market in this industry.

I'm in a ski club so I can get cheap tickets and take the occasional bus trip with my pops, couple years ago I persuaded them to pop a meatheads film in on the bus. I could see the whole bus collectively yawn any time a jump or rail section came on. I don't think WME's market even cares to watch or support newschool type skiing.

Honestly, for as much as WME sucks for pulling this shit, they are still supporting the industry. Like stated above with the fundraisers, or even through their shitty movies. They are paying some of our favorite film companies good bank for footage in turn helping them to keep operating. Also imagine how many noobs are just starting skiing now, their dad's maybe take em to a WME film cause it's basically a tradition. Next day johnny noob hops on the interwebs and searches skiing only to find NS and realizes what his peers are into, bam! we've got another member and more buyers for legit type movies. Regardless of their ways WME is undeniably still introducing and stoking people on the sport of skiing.

It's a big shit sandwich anyway ya look at it. Maybe a more focused attack on WME's shady ways is what we really need to do. Get them to stop trying to hurt their own industry in some way.

I am a skier and I started out watching Warren Miller. They need to bring it back to a core approach rather than chasing the dollar. /rant
 
Id say the best thing to do would be to talk to whoever is in charge and see if they will show a MSP or TGR movies instead. If its too late this year talk to them about next year.
