Skiers with jeeps

okay so im getting a new car really really soon ....

A Jeep wtangler unlimited...... (heart eyes).

but one thing ive noticed is my skis arent fitting in the back.... thats a problem. for now it has a soft top so no roof rack... has anybody found a clever way to transfer planks up the hill? hitch rack maybe? let me know

fold the roof down. then put seats down then roof up while putting seats up and down left and right and use the jeep key to unlock the side area with roof down and seats up and slide rear seat one way and the passenger seat the otherway. Now you should have room. So put your skis and whatever else in and use the special jeep key again also make sure you are in 4x4 so that when you close up one of the roof seats doesnt get jammed in the side area. Now just do all those steps again in reverse and you should have everything fitting nice and snug without the need of a roof rack.

One time I saw someone who strapped a golf bag to the back of their car (might have been the same that you're getting) and had skis in it.

is it a 4 door? if so just fold down the seat behind the driver seat. Put your skis in through the trunk and have them facing diagonally with the tips behind the driver seat and the tails in the back right corner of the jeep.

I'm currently dealing with the same thing. I have a wrangler, 2 door.

I have a Jeep Loredo 06 and my skis fit fine diagonal with the backseats down. If you have a 2 door wrangler I can see what you are getting at.

my cousin had a two door and managed to get his gs and super g skis around in it, you might have to get creative with it, maybe if you have them from the passenger seat diagnol to the opposite corner of the back

came here to help, but i have a grand cherokee, not a wrangler. So underrated for its performance in snow, almost kind of hard for me to drift/slide around sometimes when i'm trying to

you know the hi-lift hood mount a lot of wranglers have? i always wanted to fab one of those up to hold skis instead of the hi lift jack. i think thats a million dollar idea, so if anyone capitalizes on it send me some royalties

I have a 2 Door Wrangler. You can fit skis.

I fit me, Chubz, 2 of our friends, 3 pairs of skis, a snowboard, and our bags in my jeep. You have to lay them at an angle across the back. Take the backseat out if you're able to. You should have a good amount of room. If you get an unlimited you will most certainly have enough room.

Ya for fucks sake that ride was hell.

OP i fit my 186 kartel 106s in her jeep and they went in no problem at all. You will have no issues fitting your skis in your jeep.

I was gonna do the same, but I, too, have a Grand Cherokee. Haven't driven mine in winter conditions yet, but I have gone drifting once on a dirt road before I got new tires last month. However I didn't use the e-break, though, but under-steering is a bitch.

I had no problems. I start off in 2nd and try to keep my rpms below 2-1.8k and never loose traction. I also drive abnormally slow though. Jeeps have a short wheel base which make drifting easy. So turns are a little sketch if you take em too fast. If you don't drive like an asshole they handle like 9.3/10

you drive stick? (heart eyes)

I have a jeep tj with a rack on one half of the top and yakima racks on the other, can fit 3 pairs no problem. Hard to find a better car to drive in deep snow. Just go slow and it'll go just about anywhere with 33 inch tires.

Drove an 06 Wrangler TJ (Manual) and skis fit the back no problem and they handled very well in the snow. The trick to getting the skis in is put the tails below the driver's seat and run the tips up just above the backseat going diagonal. If your back seats have head rests, this may not work but they didn't start doing that until 2007.

my jeep?! Yeah... it is

Thats so weird. We had the exact same car down to the detail. Although I put an exhaust, 8 ball shifter, subs and LED lights on mine. I sold it last year to fund my new motorcycle.

what 8 ball shifter did you use? and did you like it? lol im thinking about one

It made the whole jeep man it was sick! I didn't buy it, I hollowed it out from a real 8-ball and threaded it myself. The gear shift comes threaded so I used a CNC to match the thread on the gear shift.

easy... don't get a jeep. unless your going to put the time and money into it to take it off road your really just throwing money away on a car that really has no pros as a daily driver.

Kinda did that on my forester, had a push bumper, welded some railing on to make a place where the skis could rest horizontally across the front of the car, the I put hinged clips on each side to hold them in. So I had a ski carryer/front bumper thing.

Kind of agree with this. Wranglers are badass and I love cruising in them. As someone who drives high speed country roads / highways most of the time would make a horrible daily driver.

if ya have em post a pic, that sounds sweet. if ya get in a fender bender tho say goodbye to yer purdy park sticks

I have an 01 2 door wrangler sport and I love it. In the summer I take the top and doors off and people love it and in the winter I just take the backseat out and put the tips of my skis just above the passengers right shoulder and the tails go diagonally to the back. They fit just fine unless I need to put my winch in the back too. Then I just move the front seat all the way forward and everything I need for urban fits fine. Never gets stuck and has one of the best engines and transmissions ever put in a jeep.

I've got a 94 wrangler. Man the thing seriously rips in snow. Not just an inch or so, like deep deep snow. Never been stuck before and have driven in some serious conditions.

Anyways, for a while I would just put my skis on the right side of the passenger side seat. It's hard to explain but basically they were laying on the shoulder area of the passenger side seat and would go back and the tails would be on top of wheel well area.

Then I got a roof rack because that was always annoying. Just get a roof rack on your hardtop. They aren't hard to install. I got the Yakima landing pad 6 (I think. Not sure on the number) and drilled them into the roof. It works perfectly and looks bad ass.

i have a 94 wrangler as well and i tried putting my double ski bag in the back seat yesterday with both skies in it and couldn't fit it with out sacraficing putting the passenger seat up. i will most likely have to ditch the bag for trips when i bring a buddy. Mine still has the soft top which also kinda sucks or else i would just get a roof rack!

They're not terrible, already got opening day in at Killy and felt pretty good. My heads still probably a little fucked up if we're talking technicalities but shit happens! I surprisingly have like pretty much full mobility back in my hand.

Find a hard top somewhere! They're everywhere online and in junk yards. The hard top is so much better in the winter. I would hate using my soft top in the snow. Definitely worth it and they aren't too expensive
