Ive seen a lot of skiers naming skateboarding grinds , in ski tricks!

Considering theyre not even close to what a skateboarding trick really is

Just see a picture of a guy just sliding a handrail a little bit twekead and its says overcrook.....

When people say that does they even know something aboout skateboarding?

does you even know english? naw just kidding i bet english isnt your first language.... you terrorist

but seriously, what else would you call them? making up new trick names is retarded

if i do a lipslide and get my skis all 45 degrees-ed out, im gonna call it an overcrook so deal with it! there are more important things to worry about in life

For real it just pissed me off because , some of them look like the name they say but , a bunch of times dont.

If you write in spanish you probably suck much more than i do in english.

Like for example confusing tailslide and blunt , completily different .

My dear friend from us customs.

Skateboarding is where most ski rail tricks and grabs stem from. Obviously, a skate board and skis are much different so it isn't surprising that the tricks with the same names aren't exactly the same.

I can imagine when ski tricks are and were being named, the skier does the trick and thinks "oh hey that was kind of like a ____ in skateboarding (or more often snowboarding)" and so then they just call it that instead of making up another term for it.

oh yeah, absolutely. to be serious for a second, your english is WAY better than my spanish by a long shot. your english is better than a lot of my friends'... like someone mentioned, your use of they're vs their vs there is better than a lot of americans. totally joking about your english

but yeah i mean i agree to an extent about trick naming-- but keep in mind that in many cases, the skiing trick is being adapted from the snowboarding trick, which was adapted from skateboarding. so a well done blunt in skiing pretty much resembles a good snowboarding one, which sort of resembles a skateboarding one (but there arent any trucks on a snowboard or skis to make it official, which lends itself to people sorta leaning back and going "hey guys i just did a sweet blunt"

Couldnt agree more! Off course they will be some used in a good way and pretty much the same , with lipslides for example .

Holla at the people who do roller blade grinds on skis. (broken grind-not sure if blade trick or not, royale grind, acid grind-i think?)

allen lam's acid grind on skis is pretty

Nah its cool to be like snowboarders trying to be like skateboarders.

Consider this trick on a downrail! It sounds hella cool...

Cab nollie 180 to butter ollie lip nose blunt tap hardway to swivel 180 tail press ollie nose blunt to tranny then push to forward.

I thought this thread was going to be about a guy who tried to do every skateboarding grind. I thought I was gonna see a skier try a darkslide. I am disappointed.

I rollerblade but for some reason I call all my grinds skier grinds, like instead alleyoop makio or back slide I just call it 180 to one foot 50 50 of lip slide

You don't even have your Rollerblade terms right in the first place. It's okay for you to call them by the ski grinds.

zeaching a rail is when you come off early, numb nuts

Nah, my dude. A Zeach is a snowboard term for a jib between 50/50 and boardslide, and it's the same on skis basically. You see them when people under-rotate or are too scared to commit to a legit 90 degree ski slide. It has nothing to do with coming off early, but people who zeach (not on purpose) are people who are going to come off early because they stink.

Now, zeach's are cool in an ironic way. The only one that looks good in my opinion, is basically hopping on and twisting your hips against the slide like a shifty, and then throw your hips back to forward when you come off.

Somebody embed. Then go to 1:07. Tell me that's not the sickest shit ever, if you think otherwise you're lying.

now we're getting somewhere. zeaching is when getting on to a rail, you dont quite make it to 90 degrees. commonly seen in beginners. An overcrook on the other hand is when you go over 90 degrees "twisting your hips against the slide like a shift". zeaching often leads to coming off the rail early because you ARENT DOING A PROPER FUCKING RAILSLIDE, so no need to be a fucking dick danbrown. overcrooks are exceeding a proper railslide, thus adding style.
