Skiers thumb

Feels like my thumb's ligament when its stretched out is really vulnerable. I'll get a few falls a year where I land on my thumb and then my thumb kills me for a few days and swells up.

Online it looks like it's called skiers thumb.

Do you guys know any ailments to deal with this so I don't get pissed when I inevitably fall this season.

Thanks

do you use poles?

If so when you put on your hands on the straps put your hand through the strap then use the starp as a bridge fro your thumb this could help as I known people that have broken their thumbs just putting their hands through and grabbing the grip

That is actually a very smart idea. While skiing today I thought of ways to avoid skier thumb injury and I think this will work

I actually tore the ligaments from wearing my poles like that, in my both thumbs. I don't know if there's a real way to prevent it except not to fall.

If you mess it up and it hurts and is swelling, you can buy one of those cheap braces from a pharmacy and strap up your thumb when you're trying to not use it and put it on ice, it relieves some of the pressure and you're less likely to knock it when you're just laying around.

Do you mean putting your hand through the strap from under it and then grabbing the grip or from putting it through from the top?

I go from under it and my thumbs usually hurt if I try to stop anything with my arms.
