in response to OP, that sucks. my mum and a friend have also had this and it takes a while to recover

you never know, I fell one day 2 weeks ago went to the doctor 2 days ago I only thought my wrist was sprained got my x rays and it turns out I broke it in 3 places

best of luck to you dude i crushed my hand at work today and i fucked it pretty good four fingers broken. got to go back next week to see if i need surgery i know how you feel

Pretty much every time I fall I manage to jam one of my thumbs it fuckin hurts sometimes but I've never broke it, I'm sure you'll be fine

I have it too. I jammed my thumb during football plus some falls on it skiing. One thumb is about twice the size of the other one. Feels nice.

I'm getting skier's thumb this season alot because there's so snow, so I spend most every day sitting on my fucking thumb.Real sore, reallllll sore.

ahahahahahah

OP:

i get skiers thumb all the time. i hear if you tape your thumbs when you go skiing it will reduce the risk. i could see it working considering my thumb feels almost perfect when i hold it and put it under compression. ive yet to try it yet though, dont know why.

other than that, if it happens a lot, dont put your pole straps on. the reason it happens is because you fall with your poles in your hand (well thats how skiers thumb originally starts). the grip pushes on the webbing between your thumb and index and pulls some shiit (thats why it happens in the thumb and none of the other fingers). so if you can drop your poles before your hand hits the snow/ice, you shouldnt get it as often.

Broken my left thumb twice, and my right thumb once, all skiing. Honestly, its the best injury to have as a skier. Just take your pole in when you get your cast, ask them to form it so you can grip your pole, and continue to ski. Not a big deal.

but seriously i have skiers thumb too. it sucks but suck it up and go ski. my right thumb is so fucked up so i cant even feel anything anymore in it.(not just from skiing(i dislocated it and sprained skating))

I broke my thumb last weekend, and I had to go in and get a pin in it today. It sucks.

The only reason I even went to see a doctor was because ski patrol insisted, which was really good.

yeah happens to me all the time, constantly falling on my hands which usually results in thumb pain, usually gets better as the season ends, but some sort of brace in a glove could be a really good idea

I cased a jump at Breck and somehow fucked my thumb. Pretty sure it's broken but i can't be sure

ive broken my left thumb 3 times the most recent being last sunday and just kinda accepted that its gonna happen lots. i just go no poles for a bit till it feels right to hold a pole again.

apparently I really fucked my thumb over... plenty of torn isht in there. According to doc, I am out for the season, with a brace on for 4-6 more months...
