so i replaced my nano with a classic and im wonderin if i should ski with it. i havent gotten a case yet so im hesitant. since its a hard drive based ipod, i heard that if it drops hard, its fucked and thats it.

what do you guys think

I would recommend getting a shuffle for skiing. they are super small and light and work perfect for skiing and the flash drive never fails. You can get them for like $30-40 which is a solid investment to protect your more expensive classic. Having both is a dope set up so you can have one with all your tunes on it to take in the car and shit and one for skiing and other activities that you don't have to worry too much about.

yea i can speak from experience the newer bigger ipods crap out real easily. my 80 gig video ipod decided to die for no reason like u have to be super careful with it . the shuffles can take a bit of a beating and still be alright so i think u should go with that option

get a hard case for it. i never had a problem with mine in a hard case. dropped it, fell on it, no problems. however, a good hard case is 20-30 bucks. a refurbished shuffle is 40 or so.

^ what he said

i've known guys who've had stuff like that happen to them, not skiing persay but other sports and all that, and plus with the shuffle, its not going to be a big deal if u fall on it and it gets damaged due to its price. on the other hand, if i broke my classic in a fall or whatever i'd probably shit a brick cuz its so expensive

yeah im a afriad too i have my old mp3 sansa that i ski with since i dont wanna break the glass on my itouch

Umm, I have a nano and I got a leathy plolycarbonate cover for it for like $10 from Best Buy. Aren't you worried about whatever you have getting wet from the snow? Even if it is under warranty if you send it to apple and it has water droplets inside the screen they arent going to honor the warranty

honestly i skied with a classic all of last year and didnt break it. the bigger problem is the battery. especially when its cold, spinning the hard drive kills the battery super fast.

ive been skiing and skateboarding with my classic for the last two and half years and ive dropped it/fell on it a bunch of times and its still fine... i wouldnt worry about it too much just keep it in one of your jackets inside pockets and itll be fine.

i have a 120g but i took my moms old nano and put on like 900 of my favorite songs. really dope cause i can throw it on shuffle and not have to worry about it. and my 120 is really heavy so this is perfect

I've never broken an ipod.......doing anything. I took one to about 17,000ft and it didn't like that much but it started working again once i got down a little bit in elevation. And I break like 4 phones a year so its not like I'm being careful with them. As long as its not a touch it should be fine.

i got a shuffle solely for skizzin. It works great, easier with gloves and the thing is bullet proof. I have had it covered in ice and it still works like a charm, and the battery life is so good

I ski with my classic all the time.. have had some pretty nasty bails riding big mountain and the thing still runs after 2 seasons
touch wood.

i droped my ipod classic 120 from the top of a roof that i was sheeting all the way to the basement it still works

ive dropped it so many times i wouldent worry about the drive to much their pretty much bombproof

from my experience anyways.

i would get a shuffle. i skied with my classic and now the front is all spiderwebed from falling on it...

the shuffle should be like an addon to a larger ipod. you sync it with the classic or touch and u can dump whatever music on it form the larger ipod without using a computer

man shuffles are so legit. ive put mine through the wash THREE TIMES. (yeah im an idiot)

but the thing still works as good as the day i got it!
