who all waxes thier own skis? and what kind of equipment do you have? i'm not really a hardcore tuner, but i do wax my own skis, just wonderin

first off you need base cleaner which most people don't think is necessary but is, an old iron, like a nylon or horsehair brush, a scraper adn a scotch brite pad, that is all you need to do a decent job.

fuk that

thats all you need to wax

if you want to do a little more you can buy petex a metal scraper lighter and you can buy a hand edger which will sharpen the edges as long as they are not bad (remember to detune the edges though) finally a stone to deburr the edges.

DaKine sells a tunning kit witth everything u need to wax and do your edges. (except the iron)

well i went into my local shop which i trust and asked them what i need to get started up and they told me: wax, cheap iron with no holes, and a plastic scraper.

what would the scotch brite pad be for? i know what the nylon brush is for

the scotch brite just helps to get all the fine waz shit off after you use the nylon brush, just kind of a nice finishing step makes it look good.

fuk that

what if the iron has holes? Can we use our old iron that wasn't made for ski waxing?

yah you can use an old iron with holes. i do. just turn it so the pointy part points down and drip the wax on that way. try not to get it in the holes though.

Waxing and tuning your equiptment is overrated.

Trust me, I'm a ski Tech.

you often wont notice the difference between tuned skis an untuned ones except on really warm days and icy days. on warm days, the right wax will make allll the difference and on icy days, you will be wishing you had some sharp edges. i am on the racing team at my school and they buy us the best equipment to tune with. no one ever asked why i was tuning my twinnies when i never race with them.

Stop signs outlined in white are optional.

hey scratchcrew, shut up you want some kind of brownie point or something. you and me both are ski techs, along with about 50 other people that are on ns right now.

fuk that

i do all my shit by my self. The people that pay like 30 bucks for a fuckin tune up are suckers. I bought a whole bunch of waxing and tuneing shit for like 250 and i buy this sick dominator wax i forget what its called but i wax my skis every fri or sat night. i dont pay some dick head to do it and fuck it up

My love for you is like diarrhea, I just cant hold it in.

why so you can fuck it up yourself. you know there is actually some skill in it scratchfuck. you are gay.

fuk that

wow! chill out guys. both of you have valid points. rossiscratch- i too have had more than one encounter with an inexperienced techie, but some know what they're doing. and jizack- it is true that many self tuners dont know what they're doing, but others do, and even if they dont, i'd rather fuk up my own skis knowing that it was in my own ignorance than have a tech fuck 'em up.

Haha you are idiots! I was joking. Can't you take a joke? Anyways, it is not hard to be a Tech. You just have to have a brain in your head.

I agree, i ski about 100 times a year and i might wax twice. It's not needed.

dont use base cleaner if you can just do a pre wax and heat it up super hot with a hair dryer and then scrape it, then do your good final wax without scraping at the end, that way you dont dry out the base

no scraping? .. hair dryer? .. interesting concept... :p
