Ski vs face: ski wins

So the story begins yesterday. I was skiing at Revelstoke, and at the bottom of the mountain they don't have too much snow. Seeing how I was visiting I said fuck it and decided to ski down instead of dowload. Near the bottom I hit a rock and got this nasty core shot right on the edge of my ski, but luckily the edge didn't crack. It was a two day trip, I didn't have p-tex, so today I decided to rent some skis instead of risk damaging mine.

The rental skis had very sharp edges and the demo bindings were only at 9.5. Normally I have my dins at 12, but the rental shop was legally only allowed to put them at 9.5, and since I was planning on just doing a mellow groomer day I said fuck it and didn't bother cranking them up.

After a few runs, I was in some moguls, aired off of one, landed on the uphill side of another, where my right ski popped off and flew up into my face.

25 stitches, 12 on the surface, and 13 under the skin. 3 layers of stitches in total, cut the cartilage... goes from the top of my nose on the right side to my upper lip on the left side.

third time I've been cut by my edges, but by far the most gnarly one.

I'll get a better picture of it when the swelling goes down and the blood is all cleaned up, tomorrow perhaps.

so, NS was being a bitch and wouldn't let me load this photo onto NS, so here's a link to the pic on my facebook page.

22 hours after my face got cut, 19 hours since the stitches went in. cleaned off the dry blood, swelling went down, gives you a better idea as to what the cut is.

after checking it out today, the ski didn't just cut my nose open, but went as far as cut the inside wall as well.
