I'm thinking about taking a lone out for around $2000 to take a week vacation to whistler. I need a flight accomadations passes and food. I planned it through on the whistler sight and it will be about $2000 plus food. I really want to make this a reality because this is something ive been dreaming about for the past 5 years atleast and im sure this is my last chance at least for the next little while. for the next 3 years im in school or on a work term untill im finished my degree (b. comm). so basically what i need is any info on ways to do this cheaply. my accom's are about $90 a night and the flight is $815 both ways. is there anything i can do to knock down some of the costs? thanks

i would kill to but i cant because :

a) I have to work durring the summer to pay for my school

b) i dont have any money and this trip woul be on my line of credit which i would have to pay back. im not some rich kid with a trust fund hence the need for cutting costs.

They've been getting dumped on wiht snow lately and i was up there 2 weeks ago and it was pretty sick, no where near what it normally is but still definitely worth going...why don't you go to mammoth or colorado?

ooooh it can definitely be harder when planning with a travel site...

1. find someone with a season pass that you can go with to buy tickets, you'll get a discount that way. OR go around 10:30 and ask people coming off the mountain if you can have their pass.

2. stay at the shoestring lodge in the hostel-style rooms, www.shoestringlodge.com it will be much cheaper for you

3. Food is discounted right now at many of the on-mtn lodges for those with season passes, find someone who can buy your lunch for you (need their pass to scan to get the discount)

4. cook your own food when you're there, buy your groceries at Nesters or IGA, the grocery store in the village is very expensive.

thats all I can think of right now- but good luck and I hope you have an awesome trip!

whistler isnt having a great year then are they? whatss the snow like in late april early march usually? is it good skiing?

i would consider mammoth if i can get the flights for around the same. anyone know the conditions in mammoth?

it has just snowed about 2 metres in whistler and it seems to be sticking. do you mean late march and early april? you should come for the WSI (work ski invitational) it's a great party.

wow late nights catching up. i meant late april early may. i would love to be in for the wsi but my xams are done on the 20th so the earliest i could leave would probably be the 22nd

check places like orbitz and cheaptickets to see if they can offer cheaper flights. You can always book everything else from Whistler's site.

life is too short to have any regrets

Your flight at $815 return is stupid expensive. You can save at least $250 on that alone. Other than that, the shoestring will work, make your own food, don't go shopping, and when you inevitably go out, PRE DRINK. Don't do something stupid like get a rental car while you're out here, because you won't need one, and remember: it's expensive, but it's so so so worth it.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

actually i was wrong with airport tax and everything the cheapest return flight i could find is $1200 from deer lake newfoundland to vancouver

is there a way you can bus from deer lake to a more populated area and get a cheaper flight from there?
