Ski tuning equipment

Hi, I'm purchasing equipment to tune my skis. Here's what I'm ordering so far and what I already have:

Already have an all temp wax and a wax iron.

Brushes, file, scrapers, cold wax:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/XCMAN-Snow...RQ/ref=sr_1_6?crid=259A8YY2U5N04&keywords=ski+edging+tool&qid=1648049523&sprefix=ski+edging+tool%2Caps%2C80&sr=8-6

Adjustable edge tool:
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/85-90-ski-edge-sharpener/_/R-p-X8045566?mc=8045566&c=RED

Diamond stone:
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/diamond-file-400/_/R-p-X8571157?mc=8571157

The only thing I'm struggling to find is a base edge tool, because as far as I understand a tool used for side edges doesn't work on base edges (happy to be corrected on this). Does anyone know where I might be able to find one? And is there anything else I will need?

Thanks!

Do you have a vise for your skis?

A quality ski vise makes all the difference when tuning skis.

Adjustable guides are not very good.

I've been a tuner for many years, and here is a link to the tools I use.

Look for the base bevel guides there. You will need a sidewall planer as well.

agreed, in my opinion the first thing that you should buy are vices

Ski vice and bench are mandatory! Without, pretty hard to do anything.

I’ll get some non adjustable guides then. For the base bevels I’ve heard that it’s not a good idea to file them once they’ve been shaped because it changes the angle of the base edge? Is this true? In which case I would only be using diamond stones on the base for maintenance correct?

also I’m struggling to find base bevels on any UK retailers. You are presumably US based but was wondering if you know of any UK or international retailers that might sell them?

thanks!

Yes, once the base bevel is set, you only want to take off high spots from a rock hit etc. Base bevels only grow over time.

Race place will ship to you.

Here is an old basic tuning video series I made.

Good luck!
