Ski The East / Meathead Films deserves more respect

Today it seems that a decent amount of people don’t fuck with Ski the East as a brand and a whole these days and I can’t fully comprehend why. Sure they’re really big now and have a following much larger than park skiing or even die hard skiers in general, but they’ve stuck to their roots in the process.

Ski the East, formally known as meathead films, has always put out amazing content whether it’s park shoots, urban, back/side country, inbounds, you name it. The company has been run by the same two homies that met in college throughout its entirety and all of their staff are skiers that love skiing. The amount of east coast riders that have ridden for them or have just shot with them is crazy. Keegan killbride, Zach Masi, lupe, LJ, even like Rory Walsh, list is endless and the Freeriders too. They’ve supported riders with gear and sponsorships and have sponsored countless events donating gear simply spreading stoke and hype to what is known as the ice coast.

They remind us to cherish those days where the snow isn’t bullet proof throughout the entire snowpack, and to have a good time with your homies in an east coast fashion. They’re not out here saying it’s necessarily better than the west, Rockies, or anywhere else. Ski the East is appreciating where you are and your roots now spreading that message to all who have skied the ice coast. Meathead has evolved from something already fucking dope into a legacy or even a philosophy far beyond skiing. Ski the East should not get shit on yo, give me your thoughts.

Grew up watching those films. Was sad when the long form movies were stopped. Do they even put out edits anymore? RIP meatheads

grew up on meatheads. I remember lj throwing a misty 6 over a fire off an uprail back in 2007, I think it was snow gods; kinda unheard of back then. They always set up crazy jump shoots for their films too. Really put in work and gave a lot of local kids deserved recognition. Epoch was sweet too, not gnarly big mountain skiing by any means but just a well done film documenting backcountry skiing in the Northeast. I remember really enjoying Erik Olsen's Tug Hill Lake effect snow segment was a fav of mine too.

Radio Ron! Haven't seen that guy in like ten years, fun guy to lap superstar with.

Last spring radio ron told me I was ripping through the bumps, highlight of my spring skiing career

The entire Stept crew, Basically every skier from Quebec, Jake Doan, Andy Parry, Will Wesson, most the HG Skis Crew at some point, most of the Child Labor Crew when they did the webseries. Literally anyone on the EC who was "on the come up" was supported by STE at one point. Even just from a video standpoint. The exposure that STE gave a lot of athletes on the EC was legendary. I wish they would continue their webseries just for this reasoning alone.

Yeah exactly, STE has given a platform for so many up and comers and even just some of the lesser known dope skiers of the east. It’s crazy how many people don’t realize this and respect it even with STE bringing light to old projects online all the time.

I will say that it bums me out seeing their Facebook full of kooks who shit talk park skiing/newschoolers in general… once I saw those reactions on their throwback posts I unfollowed them, looks like they want that market and that isn’t us or who they were back in the day. Hope Rooster and crew are doing well and making $
