Ski the east freeride tour stop 2 : castlerock extreme challenge sugarbush vt

I had wanted to. Registration was f'ed up though. Sugarbush coaches were registering like ten kids at a time while the rest of us had to do the first come first serve. I was there right at 8:30 when registration opened and it seemed like they'd pre registered peeps or something, the whole thing was full in like three minutes. Very poorly run.
Ski the East should beware next time they put up money to help host what equates to a mountain team only comp. Pretty lame.

I agree. In the end I think I had a better day then I would have if I'd done the castlerock comp.
First off castlerock trail wasn't exactly "fun" to ski, and instead I got to enjoy an awesome spring park day. Made for a better time, the comp was going to be a lot of hury up and wait. Essentially watch a bunch of kids timidly pick there way down castlerock because their coaches made 'em.
Maybe I am still bitter too. I knew I was going to have a pretty good chance to take home some money.

Mike:
Please see my reply on Ski the East, I am sorry to say I think this stop failed as part of the East Freeride tour.

wait, the comp wasn't on liftline?? that's lame, lift line is way sicker than castlerock run.

anyways sick to see smitty, darrell and parky chargin hard.

I saw that, thanks. I think you guys at STE are doing a great job with this tour and I am sure there are all kinds of red tape to work through in an inaugural year. Keep it up!

yeah a friend of mine drove all the way up there to be denied by 3 people in front of him! he entered last year and said it was totally fixed judging for the locals! i thankfully couldnt make it> too bad as i definately wouldve taken first, :) Juuust kidding!!

Killington seems to have a good registration process for their Bear Mountain Mogul Comp (200 entrants). The event is done through internet preregistration on active.com. The first person to register is the first to take a run. Zero refund policy and a lottery is held day of event for no show spots.

Love the spoiled little brat response on the ski the east forum.

"We need priority so we don't get nervous when we compete".

u know i was gonna hate on this whole idea and say its dumb and there is no extreme terrain on the EC aside from madonna liftline and tuckermans. that may be true, but i think this is an awesome idea, i just hope the rumors about shitty judging are false and that the stoke from the comps helps to keep pushing everyones skiing to the next level.

so what if you arent skiing a 50 degree face littered with rock. there is more to skiiing than that. and literally you can make a competition of anything, so have fun and best of luck.

i would lay off the word extreme though.
