Ski suggestions

One of my friends - he doesn’t have a ns account - is currently searching for a new ski. Until now he was skiing racing skis and did not really get into freestyle/freeride skiing.

He is 17, 175cm tall (~5’9) and weighs approximately 65kg (~143lbs).

He does not necessarily ski a lot in the park and when skiing usually wants to ski about 55% offpiste/pow, 35% on piste and 10% park.

Since he has only used racing skis and skied basically 100% on groomers just until 1 year ago, he is not very experienced yet and a beginner in freeride skiing. He’s not super into park skiing, but rather wants a ski that performs great in pow and also carves nicely and does well on groomers. Therefore he wants a rather stiff to medium flex ski (not a very loose playful ski) with about 90-100mm (max 105) underfoot. Consider his current skis are atomic redsters, so super narrow underfoot. He does not want to transfer to a ski almost double the width underfoot now, thats why something between 90 and 105mm would fit him well.

Even though he is not super into park skiing, he is trying to learn basic tricks, therefore a ski that will perform quite nice in park would be good.

The atomic bentchetler 100 is a ski that surprised me. It has a nice flex pattern, But that doesn’t mean they are noodles. When you throw down it responds nicely. Butters are fun on the ski since they have an edgeless nose and tail. They are great in the powder and rough snow. The tips are shaped like surfboards, so they glide nicely. They are also good on groomed snow. I enjoy ripping these sticks through the woods, and they are very responsive even though they are 100mm under foot. When he wants to explore the park, the skis do an outstanding job on big jumps and rails.
