Ski shops in Portland/Hood River

Hey,
I'm working on my senior thesis which involves looking at the ways in which the ski industry and freestyle skiing influence and affect one another, specifically in the PNW. I'm going to be heading down the Mt. Hood to check out the scene and was wondering what places I should check out as far as shops, parks, etc. that are important to freestyle skiing in and around Mt. Hood. Also if any one has specific people who they think I should talk to I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

As far as retail shops, Hillcrest Ski and Sports in Gresham is about the best place in the Portland area for freeskiing gear. The parks at Timberline are generally considered the best on the mountain, and Wes, the hand crew manager, is a really good guy and will probably be helpful. As far as Newschoolers, Ponyboy (Logan) is on the park crew at Timberline, I believe Kamikaze (Ethan) works in Rentals at Skibowl and klovelace is working in the Ski School at Timberline. Additionally, Iggyskier lives in Portland now and he could probably tell some good stories about his work to date getting ON3P skis off the gound.

Furthermore, some of the local shreds and their coaches might be helpful - a number of them are on the Lincoln high team (jvandershred would be a good start) and their coach is Griffin Cummings. Tommy Ellingson lives in Hood River and coaches/films with Sammy Carlson and is up on the mountain pretty frequently.

There is also this other resort on the east side of Hood that I may not post anything about, though I may be able to give some insight into it ;-).

there is also the mountain shop and USOUTDOOR both in portland USOUTDOOR is in downtown. Hillcrest and USOUTDOOR are the top two in the area. (the manager at USOUTDOOR "TOD" is a super cool guy you could get some good info off of him to)

Good luck on the project.
