Ski shop mounted my afterbangs backwards

So i just got back from picking up my skis from the shop in which they were being mounted. only to notice they mounted 1 (ya, only 1) backwards.. now they're center mounted, and fully symmetrical skis, so is it going to make a difference or should i take it back and fight for them to buy me new skis. and they were already double mounted so this is definately the last time they'll ever be mounted

bring them back and be like "you guys messed up, remount these."

"oh, sorry sir, they've already been mounted to many times in the same spot."

"Oh really? alright then i'll just take new skis. THANKS!!!"

same, kinda worried about mine right now, but the shop so legit I don't they will.
what makes this kinda worse is that there's text at the mid sole that tells you exactly which way is up...

Ya when i take my hellbents in too get mounted i am going to make it very clear on how i want them mounted and that write it all out so they dont mount it like -10 or something.

i had 3 pairs of invaders and i mounted one forwards and one backwards everytime since they're symmetrical it doesnt matter. this way when you look at your skis on the lift its like seeing a whole ski since you look at the front and back 1/2 of the skis.

I always draw a line on masking tape (or with washable marker) - but if it's centered on a symmetrical ski a line isn't gonna tell you up from down...bummer.

this thread title/description doesnt really get to the core problem at all

and makes no sense

"MY SHOP MOUNTED MY SYMMETRICAL SKIS 1CM BACK, WHAT SHOULD I DO?"

no idea why thats in caps lock

haha

shit

you guys just saved me. i brought my new skis in when i went into work today, and i didnt note where to mount them (even though there is a clear line one on of them). I'm going to make sure to mark it tomorrow

no, he was saying when the mounted the skis they mounted one ski correctly (center mounted with the tip in the front) and one ski backwards (center mounted with the tail in the front).

Isn't that how everyone has their afterbangs mounted, 1 up 1 down, otherwise you end up with the same graphic on both skis. Mine are mounted like that and can't see why you would want it any other way..

My anthems were mounted in opposite directions, but I realized that it was to make sure that the seam in the edge was always on the tail and not the tip when riding them. But the in the case of my year anthems (08 wolfs) the graphics were symmetrical so it didn't matter either way

Dude, the only way you could even tell if that ski was backwards is if you noticed that "Ski and Destroy" is a different direction on each ski. It doesn't matter, enjoy your skis.

do people really get this bent out of shape over these kinds of things?
"Handles and feels the same riding forward & fakie"(from line's website) thats the point of a symmetrical ski after all... and graphics dont affect the skis performance, which seems like it might surprise some of you...

The good news is your skis are totally going to ski fine. If the skis aren't set up graphically the way you like, you should still complain to your shop. Maybe they can comp you a few tunes or give you free base repair for a while or something. But don't get your skis re-drilled, it will only compound things.

I agree that it's not really a big deal skiing-wise. However, to me it's the principle of thee matter. A ski shop be able to mount a ski properly. End of discussion. You are paying for a service that they provide and they failed to do it correctly. At the very least get your money back from them or store credit or something.

I would probably go back and slap the tech that did it. That is messed up. If you work in a ski shop, you shouldn't be dumb enough to do that kind of that stuff. Slap him silly!

i would go back and complain for the soul purpose of getting some money back or store credit. i'd push for some store credit and make sure to mention that you were very dissapointed and would be reluctant to return to that particular shop for a future mounting. but as far as the actual ski goes it doesnt matter there fuckign symmetrical man.

I get my skis back from being mounted Wednesday. All of these threads about shops screwing up with mounting is making me worried about mine. Haha.

ME TOO!! But, I'm not worried, I've had such bad times with mounts before that I always make it very clear how to mount the bindings and what DIN to put them at - I'm kinda picky when it comes to that. Plus, the shop I went to is super legit.

A lot of shops sell legit equipment but sometimes the guys in the service area are a little dated and don't quite get it. Basically, don't take any chances and always make sure they write down on the work ticket where you want your bindings at. Putting midsole markings on the actual ski is always a good idea too. If they don't get it right after that, you are definitely entitled to some kind of compensation.

well that worked out 10000 times better than expected.. so i bought the skis already twice mounted for $60, then they were mounted the third time (wrong obviously), so when they went back to remount, there were no more spots. now all they have to decide is whether to give me $349 store credit, or just brand new afterbangs.. yay?!!!

its symetrical... you can mount however the fuck you want to. my buddy got his mounted like that and they are fine... the anthems i have had to be mounted like that. they are fine.

Well yes, they have the right to, if you buy new skis and bring them in to get mounted and you pay them, they should take the time to make sure they actually did it right, I wouldn't be mad at the fact that it might not be skiable just that people can make simple mistakes like that, when your paying them

Nice! My shop messed up mounting mine and i ended up fracturing my sternum. so i went back, got a pair of skis 1/2 off, and ended up gettin a free pair of skis from the company since they where delaminating, and i fixed the broken ones for my urban skis. WIN! WIN! WIN! (except i fractured my sternum 2 days before i went to PC haha)

this.
my friend purposely mounted one of his skis bakwards just because its unique and they are symmetrical so it doesnt even matter. Just keep it how it is and make your afterbangs stand out from all the others

It doesn't matter! Just ride the damn skis and stop your bitching! I wouldn't give him new skis if I was a shop owner, because if he doesn't specify how he wants them and the ski is symmetrical then there is no way to know how he wants the graphics. They look almost exactly the same both ways anyway.

Yup.

I asked for my disorderlys to be mounted be mounted one forward and one backwards. This makes gapers tell me that one of my skis is on backwards.

when i get skis mounted; i always mark em with paper tape; i mark the mounting position with a big fat sharpie line across the ski and also mark front and back of the ski because i'm sure there are shop techs who still have to see the first twintip....
