dear ns breddren,

I just bought a 2015 Subie Impreza, with roof rack and cross bars . . . so yea im pretty fuckin pumped for some damn snow! Do any of you have a ski rack that you would suggest for me to buy? Subaru's rack concerns me because it has a raising kit for it that you can buy if your bindings still touch the top of your car. Fuck that id rather get it right the first time and i figured you guys would be the best guys to ask. With look pivots and rocked skis what ski rack would you guys recommend? And hey, any stories of your Subaru thrashing through some knee deep pow would be nice to hear as well!

just chop the wheels off a shopping cart and weld it

The grocery getter lol. Yakima and Thule are the best brands OP. If you can, get a roof box to mount on your crossbars. Yakima's skyboxes fit Subies' OEM crossbars.

Don't get the racks designed to hold multiple skis, get a Yakima or Thule box and put your skis inside it as well as any other gear you need to bring.

The Box is fuckin rad!!! But likee 500 plus, i might and im looking at them. But i was thinking around 200. ANyone ever get one of these boxes used on the cheap?

Craigslist man. Always some on there for the cheap.

Boxes are a lot nicer for carrying anything because the stuff ends up not being covered in dirt, wanted to take this route but it was expensive and I drive an impreza and just hate the way small cars look with big boxes. Most of the time I'd say screw the way something looks go for the box but hey you just got a 2015 impreza you probably are enjoying the look part compared to the rest of us and our vehicles

the only reason the part that lifts the ski rack is for snowboard bindings on cars with low crossbars.

You can use the Yakima / Subaru rack with out the risers.

Yakima Fatcat or Powderhound are good cheap options in 6 or 4 ski versions.

Boxes are your best bet. RocketBox Pro 11 is the cheapest Yak box for skis its $349 retail new.

I've got pivots on my skis too.. need up buying the Yakima Fatcat 4 and it's always been enough. mounting it wasn't too bad either and they've never touched my roof
