Ski resorts and colleges in colorado?

What are the top resorts in colorado and are there any sick colleges or universities close to those resorts. Help me out i want to party and ski while getting a lil education

 
- Colorado Mountain College is pretty cool I here and you are by Steamboat Springs which has the best powder in Colorado plus great glades.

- Western State is decent. It is a pretty small school 15-25:1 student to teacher ratio. My sister will be a freshman there next fall. A plus is you are 20 minutes away from Crested Butte which has challenging terrain with some great snow.

-University of Colorado at Boulder is a very good school. I am a junior and I love it. Its about an hour and 15 mintues from Winter Park but 30 mintues from Eldora which is really small but for $99 season pass you have a deal. Also Summit County is an hour away where you have Vail Resorts plus A-Basin and Loveland Pass.

Ft. Lewis is about the size of Western State. The college itself is probably a little better. The nearest area is 10 minutes away. Students can get a pass to Telluride or Purgatory for $99. There is also a little area called Hesperus outside of town that has night skiing and a park. Lift tickets there are $15. The BC in the San Juans is also the best in the state.

technically, vail is in eagle county.

if you're looking to ski a whole bunch while also happening to get an education, go down south to ft lewis or wasted. if you're looking for an education while also happening to ski, look more at the metro area. it's all about your priorities, i suppose. and your grades and test scores.

Actually.... I said Vail Resorts. Emphasis on resorts. You see Vail Resorts is a realty company and they own Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, and Beaver Creek. Plus they have a pass deal for the Colorado Pass with A-Basin. Soooo, I was right.

 
i definately know that. but all of vail resorts are not in summit county. vail and bc are in eagle.

I feel like I've been talking about DU non stop in the college thread - but loveland pass, abasin, and keystone are about an hour away from DU and then Breck is another 20 or 30 mins up I-70 and Vail is another 30 from Breck. As long as you make the effort no school on the front range is really that far from the mountains, some are closer than others, but they're al super easy to get to.

You could always go to an easy college for a few years and then transfer to a more prestigious one to get you diploma.

Yeah the only thing with transferring credits to DU or CC is that it's a little tricky - DU runs on quarters and CC has that block system so the credit hours and classes don't always mesh right. I know a kid who came in from CSU as a junior and had to take all of his freshman english over because DU wouldn't accept his.

Don’t mean to burst your bubble, but there is no way in hell you can get from Fort Collins to the Frisco in 2 hours.

^Yeah especially with I-70 traffic - I know a few CSU kids and the all stay up in the mtns when they ride cause it's way to long for a day trip.

Well I'm a junior at CU and would recommend you go there. You can get a great education and still manage to ride 4 days a week with a little planning and effort. I've pulled it off for years now. However, it means that you miss out on some party nights to go ride the next morning but hey,

riding > partying

I say go to a good 4 year school, not see me ski (CMC) or wasted state and still ride 4 days a week. Plus, you get awesome weather in boulder, and if you freeride on two wheels, we have some sick sessions during january!

 
Hey dude, there are plenty of great colleges in Colorado, with access to skiing. Fort Lewis, Western State, and CMC are not some of them though. I would not pay out of state tuition ever at any of these schools. University of Colorado at Boulder is an awesome school, (there is a branch in Denver as well) they have a really good Business school, A pretty expansive arts and sciences school for liberal education, and some awesome science professors. CU professors have won the Nobel Prize in physics the past 2 years in a row. DU is an awesome school, although expensive. Their business program is one of the top programs in the Country. It is located in Denver which is a pretty cool city, don't know what else to say. CC is in Colorado Springs, and is a liberal arts college. They have very good programs, although Colorado Springs is not my choice for best cities in Colorado. There is Mines, which is definitely where to go if you are intersted in Engineering, or geology, that type of stuff. Mines is in Golden, with really good access to the highways that take you up to the major ski areas. CSU, is the state school, good aggie programs, vet programs, etc., Fort Collins is not as convenient for skiing as say Boulder or Denver though...hope this helps.
 
but all the school that you name are one the frontrang and have hour and half drive. that sucks!! i go to fort lewis and i can be on the mountian in 30min
 
are you kidding? i get up there in 2 hours almost every time not always but thats probably the average, we have made it to loveland in 1 hour 30 minuites the last 4 weeks easy.
 
Wasted State is a sick place. Gunnison is a fun town and you probably already know about the BC at Butte. CU has an awesome scene and boulder's night life is pretty chill. Its only about an hour and a half to Summit and princeton review named it the number 1 party school in the nation a couple years ago...

hey the season has not start there is no ski traffic on i-70. wait tell it starts then it will take you 2 hours to get there and longer to get home
 
Yes seriously you just wait till ski season picks up and your gonna be whining to your mommy you ddn't go to CU, and chose Fort Collins instead. I-70 corridor= hell on Earth.
