Ski resort accessible from Vaasa

Hey guys,
I will be attending Hanken university in Vaasa for my exchange program. I will be staying from september to december and I was wondering what the skiing opportunities around Vasaa are and when those ski resorts open?
some general information would be apreciated as I am wondering if I would ski more or less than in a "normal" season which tends to be around 30 days for me.

First off, nice welcome to Vaasa in advance. I myself study International business here.

About the skiing there's one mountain right outside of Vaasa (8km) accessible by bus, but it's opening depends on the snowfall, this winter it didn't open until middle of December I think. This is no big mountain at all

Here's a link to all the ski resorts in Finland, as you see from the link there's a bunch of mountains quite near Vaasa about 1-2 hour drive which should open maybe late october early november depending on the snowfall aswell. Some examples Simpsiö, Joupiska, Parra, Sotkanrinteet. I have only been to Simpsiö myself and that was skiingwise not a challange exactly but manageable.

Bumping an old thread since I am in Vaasa now as a student. Any skiers left in this town?I want to go hit up some of the hills outside the town but i dont have a car unfortunatly.
