Ski recommendations for long time skier, first time buyer.

Up until now, i've stuck to all mountain but this last season I spent a lot of time in the park and loved it so I figured its time to get myself some skis. So I need some recommendations for 50 all Mtn/50 Park. Not really into pipe at this point. I typically ski 170's, but I have no idea what length to go for as far as park.

Been eyeing ARV's, Karmas and PE's, but i'm open to anything really. I would like to keep it under $400 and I don't mind waiting for a deal over the summer. Additionally, where should they be mounted keeping in mind they will be used 50 park/50 all mountain?

Thanks.

I have a pair of 169 cm 05/06 Karma's mounted with 06/07 Z10's. I used them for the 06/07 season maybe 15 times. I only used them for all mountain and jumps, no rails or boxes, so the edges are in almost perfect condition. I took really good care of them, so they are still in almost new condition. PM me if you're interested.

if u can find some 185 karmas that'd be perfect, but unfortunately they're really hard to find now. good luck

Public Enemys wouldn't be a bad choice, ARV's wouldn't be bad either. I would look for possibly 181 4frnt Msp's but they might be a little over your price.

just wondering, how come everyone recommends longer lengths compared to all the downhill skis ive rented in the 170's range?

^^^^ since you want to ski park more (50%) people will recomend a closer to centre mount which will make the ski feel like its skiing shorter so a longer ski compromises that, plus your pretty for a 170 ski, your should be on around 180 judging on your weight and height, plus more length = more stability

to put it in prespective i am 5'7 135 and ski 173's. Bigger skis feel much nicer, you will be happy with a longer ski. You really do not need a center mounted ski, anyone that tells you otherwise is wrong, you will be much more comfortable mounting closer to center but not dead on. Again for prespective i ski center mounted ski's but i ski almost exclusivly park.

Thanks for all the replies. I realize that there are a lot of better choices out there but im kinda leaning towards armadas price point el-reys for the simple fact that i live in dallas and only get to hit the slopes about 15 days a season. If i lived anywhere else near snow id have no problem throwing money at some arvs/ar6/karmas but since they will be used so little i dont mind going with an entry pair.

Should i go with 178's or 185's?

Also does armada list where el-reys recommended mount point is online?

I know i wont go center but id like to get an idea before i buy.

Look px12's a good match?

Thanks

my friend has el rays and i dont like them too much
theyre my least favorite ski and iv skied salomon guns, salomon foils, armada t-hall, armada ar6 k2 public enemys, and k2 fujatives
