Ski racing site?

i dont get all the hate for racers. sure the suits look a little douchy, but racer are no more douchy than kids who sit in the park all day telling everyone who isnt throwing down that they're a gaper.
 
And people don't think park riders look like tools with their hoodies or jackets down to their knees and their pants well below their waists?

Nothing is wrong with a racer. It the person who has the attitude, not the specific sport.

I know tons of racers, awesome people who love their life.

Given they're mature and not 15.

I've seen tons of little shits at the park who have no respect for anything or anyone and think that their white, suburban ass should be pampered at the ski hill. They are obnoxious, rude, swear in front of families, budge in lines (singles is the worse). I hate the kids like that. Grow the fuck up.

Then I see the racers on the other side of the maze, same age. These are polite, calm people who respect the ski hill and everyone there.
 
Alright I admit it. I'll probablly get kicked off NS for it but I think racing is cool. I used to be a racer, just as I used to be a Ski Patroller. I'm almost 40 years old and I'm a parent. How uncool am I? Can't 3 either and I'm afraid of rails. But I love sliding in all its forms, except for that Shane White snowboarder guy.
 
lol not sure if serious^^? nothing uncool about it. Your associations dont make you a douchebag or "uncool." Quite the opposite. If you have a douchebag personality nothing is gonna change that.
 
haha nah. aside from the 12 year old kids everyone here is pretty stoked on all types of skiing, because they realized a douchy park rat is pretty much the same as a douchy racer.its not the background, its the individual. kids need to figure it out.
 
to be fair, the point of ski racing is to "out ski" other people, the point of freestyle(other than comps) is to have fun whilst pushing yourself, so i wouldn't be surprised if they were faster skiers....

unless you're talking in overall skiing, where im sure that statement is probably true, becuase there are alot of people on this site who look like they can't ski normally to save their lives...
 
I wouldn't completely agree with that, but tell me if I'm wrong.

MY experience, as a racer, involves pushing yourself as hard and as much as you can, to gain personal improvement, to learn new skills, and to become better rounded. Sure, we compete. But aren't freeriders competing against the mountain?

Just a thought.
