for my engineering design class we have a project that i have to finish..i am designing a type of ski pole. does anyone know the exact types of materials (for example i said that for the pole itself would be made of an aluminum 6061-T6 alloy) most ski pole grips/straps/baskets are made out of? i know the generic material names, but i am looking for the specific material names..so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

and yes, i have searched the internet for a while. i just figured i may be able to get an answer much more easily through ns

hahaha...i took material sci last semester and im pretty sure most ski poles are made out of 6000 grade aluminum like you said, but im not sure of the exact specs. I would make a composite pair with some sort of weight/weave of carbon fiber, maybe over a core made of 6000 grade aluminum tube. They would be dope and hard as hell to bend/break

pretty sure the strap is just nylon webbing and you can use 18 mm 7075 aluminum shaft. the very tip of the pole is made of steel to break through the ice.

I don't think you quuuiiitttee comprehend...

engineering classes aren't quite the same as your 8th grade home edu courses...
