Ski Painting?

I really want to buy a pair of last years Salomon Thrusters, sweet ski, with THE fuckin ugliest graphic ever, but for 400 with binding brand new, i think that i cant go wrong.

I was just wondering if its possible to paint a pair of skis in a way that the paint wont chip off every time ur skis touch/flex.

Ive never tried painting skis, but i would have to assume that a coat of spray paint would do just that.

Anyone thrown down a successful paint job that hasnt all chipped off? If so, could u give me a rough idea of the steps to take in order to create a long lasting paint job?

K here we go. there are two options that i have used...

1) spray paint. buy "Krylon Fusion", its a little bit different kind of spray paint that will bond better with the ski. i would suggest using a fine sandpaper or scotchbrite to scuff the topsheet well before painting. then, whether you are doing a solid color or a design, you will want to put multiple layers on. follow up with a good coat(s) of clear coat spray paint for shiny results and a little more durablitly, if you dont want shiny then use about 3 to 4 coats of the regualr paint.

2)car paint. if you happen to know anybody that works in a body shop/car shop, like i do, ask them if they will hook you up on a good deal on paint. car paint and clearcoat is way more durable, but probably not a great option for your situation. however, if at all possible, its a way better result for creating your own topsheet design. hope this helps!
 
ski them a bit until they are broken in, so the top sheet is used to flexing when you paint it. also use like, a clear furniture finish or something like that over the paint, so That it doesn't wear off.
