Wish skiing had a magazine like snowboarding has torment. No ads, tons Of full page photos. Just thumbed through some random mag on the counter of a shop…riddled with ads and not a lot of actual content.. photos taken by the same group of photographers.. sorry Lee Cohen but I am tired of the same photos of people swimming in pow

that is all

that is all.

yep ski mags were my childhood-teens holy bibles.

They taught be basically everything i know about skiing, and showed me all the shit i wanted to buy.

It all was over for me when my mom bought me that "AXIS mag" (Powders free skiing magazine" in 2002 at Safeway.

I had seen MSP's ski movies, and some Level 1 & poor boyz on local RSN network. but the magazines were really what I liked, they even helped influence me to first join NS with a ad in FREEZe

i miss photo annual issues. I have some really good ones from powder of the last decade or so of freeskiing with all sorts of gold in there.

The Ski Journal is rad, dunno if "upscale" is the right word but its more substantive than most other mags, generally more long form articles but the photography is sick and there are some fucking gems peppered in the short stories. Can be pretentious but the people in charge definitely give a shit about skiing.

snovoid is what you are looking for my friend

Snovoid is like a bunch of mediocre full page photos and 3 two-page articles per issue. For fucking $20.

Also for some reason they really like posting cringe packs from skiing tiktok on insta, which paradoxically gives them a really stuck up vibe. Save that shit for a meme page.

We still need a successor to Freeze that takes inspiration from shit like Thrasher and Transworld Snowboarding
