Ski Living in Park City????

Hey everyone I haven't been on in awhile but I have a concern. With the recession that is happening what is going to happened to ski towns? Why I ask is I was planning on moving to Park City this April but I am worried I won't be able to find a job....I already found a place to live (because everyone is peacin out) but I am worried about work with it not being ski season and all.

Usually its not an issue for me because well lets cut the bullsh*t I am female (and we all know that helps in ski towns lol) But I am worried about just up and going. Any advice? How are the other ski towns doing?

Thanxxx everyone

Yeah not really my style lol. Another question I do have aside from moving (which I really need to figure out) is...why are all girls that are descent or good at skiing complete hoochies and have slept with every skier both sides of the Rockies? I mean maybe being 21 is too old for that IDK. But most skier girls I have met are kinda skanky. Now keep in mind I have met some cool girls and it doesn't apply to all but in general...

Yes, there is hope for PC. This place is amazing. you'll be able to find a job if you have a brain.

Yeah but I have been checking out the park record and it talks about how bad the rescission is hitting PC. And its pretty much my dream to live there so if I have to work at McDonalds I really don't care. You know whats different between Boise ID and Park City UT? The people! Ski people are so much better than most (well happier) I work at a corporate company and I wanna kill myself. I make a ton but I just wanna be free ya know.

In april is when all the south americans who came to work the winter leave so there is a need for workers when they all leave. so no finding a job should not be hard.

Yes it is now busy in the summer. They have gotten it to be a year round travel destination. And all the SLC people come up because its about 10 degrees cooler normally in the hot summer.

this is silly. there are a select few who are skankpants but the majority are real chillinn gurl you are mistaken. And you can easily get a job at a resort but i dont think its to much different otherwise.

Okay sorry for what am I about to say here but I go to clinic's with the USSA to teach Freestyle skiing and there is usually about 10 girls at each clinic and I would easily say 8 out 10 girls are skanks. Like they have slept with so many skiers and pro's its just gross. IDK and the resort industry is going to be hurting as well so yea...idk where your heads at

It is really tough to say. As you can tell by the paper (park record) there really is not a lot of openings. A ton of people are scrambling trying to find extra work right now...and a lot of businesses are cutting back. What is your area of expertise?

they are "skanks" because lets face it, a lot of good skiers are the cool, in shape, have something going for them, arent "bros" with abercrombie and hollister and pre-frayed brims. Its a way of life that only a few girls are attracted to, having fun, skiing, having sex. There arent a lot of girls in skiing, and thats the reason for it. its too bad diseases exist, a scary thing for sure in the ski community.

My area of "expertise" is working on or with computers lol. I work as a supervisor for a Verizon Wireless call center (my main duties data entry and working and making excel spreadsheets) making bank and I afraid of not being able to stay afloat with having to pay like 1400 in rent as opposed to what 675 here.

I use to also work at Sports Authority as a cashier for a year and Footloose Sports (in mammoth) for a season.

I know I keep asking questions but I haven't moved in a long time. How long do you think it will take me to get a job? I mean I already have been applying using park record. I will have about 3,000 for rent when I first get there and 2,000 to stay a afloat. So I will need to find something quick.

here in mammoth we are getting hit really hard by the recession. the mountain is cutting down on hours big time and there are no jobs. ive been wanting to get a night job since my hours have been cut so bad but no one is hiring so im kind of fucked. it just pretty much means, i eat ramen/pb and j every day and get to ski all the time so i guess its pretty cool. living the life

Haha I lived in Mammoth two years ago and freaking loved it. But they were cutting back when I worked there so I went to footloose lol. But Park City is my hearts next destination and I hope I can make it in the ski life through this stupid fuc*in depression

Gross...that's the reason I will settle with a nice ski guy someday until then I am just gonna drink, ski, and chill until I am ready to deal with that shit.

maybe living/working in salt lake and driving down to pc to ski? its not too far at all (about 30 min depends on how fast u drive 20 in good conditions?) if you're around the cottonwood area and theres more opportunity for jobs and the housing is less expensive than park city. and you'll have the resorts brighton, alta, snowbird and solitude close too!

Well I am getting a sweet deal with Canyon Creek rentals so if worst come to worst I could always work in Salt Lake. The main reason for me moving is I hate big cities even Boise id is to big for me. I love PC and the feeling. And if i get a wild hair to go out then is only that 20min drive to sl

damn those are some nice condo's we might move to those same ones during the summer hopefully, my sister lived there for like 4 years. If they ask normal or deluxe condos pick deluxe they're more roomy and are like 2x bettah for not that much difference. you'll be fine here if u cant find anything in pc start applying to salt lake its not that bad.. i live in salt lake an go to school/ski pc everyday haha

ya, we are really hurting right now. juniper has been only booked like 60% recently where it usually is about 110%

rent in Jeremy ranch isnt too bad. My friends have a reallllly nice place, 3 bedrooms for 1900 i think. Im sure you can find something cheaper too. Rent in slc is way cheaper also, but if you plan on working in pc thats a hassle. you could try to get a place sorta above the city, like up emigration canyon or just above foothill. I wish i could live in utah and go to the U but live in the green countryside like i did before i came here. i get depressed here for sure, smoggy nasty city and no backyard, no green

Haha that sucks both of my friends use to work for Juniper and what really sucks is Mammoth is close to....nothing. I hope it works out for you man!

Yeah right now they are only like 1200 for 2b. 2bath town home with attached garage. Yeah I just hope I can find a job before or SHORTLY after I get there! I wouldn't mind working in herber or anywhere close lol Just need a good paying job. I think I will be okay if I can get a job that pays 12/hr or around there. If need be I don't mind working two lol

whats different is im not in park city

who are you by the way iv never seen a 21 yr old girl at bogus who skis ar6's and t-halls

Well that was last year lol but every guy up there knows me based on my dad for some reason. He is an older guy with long hair rides with my 15 yr. old sister. I have only been up once this year due to the fact I am trying to get to PC.

Yeah, I moved to SLC 3 years ago, and started workin in PC 2 years ago. It was really easy to get a job then, and still is as far as I can see. People who work at Sundance pocket anywhere from 3 to 10 gs in two weeks. If you work as a bartender/server/host at any bar on main st. you will do ok, it defitnely slows down in the summer in PC, but there is still work to be had. Just come out and experience it, it changed my life... Also I work at PCMR, in the winter, and its dece, free pass, alright pay, and riding every day, not to mention the parties at night...its pretty easy to get a job on the mountain...

it shouldnt be too bad that late in the season, once people start moving out, jobs open up, especially in places like PC and breck that keep on kickin in the summer.

This was my day up with my sister this year.

Recognize?

Worst comes to worst, you will be able to find a job here in SLC. I wouldn't worry about it, PC is not going to get hit as hard as other towns because it is so well established, and so near a metropolitan area.
Word

Since you have worked at a sports authority why not apply there? Also If you can live off credit cards for a while and have table waiting experience you could prolly get a job at a resturant. In the summer most waiters do something else so they need bodies willing to make 3 bux an hour and not serve any food. The thing is you get established and then make bank when the winter hits.

i dont know what type of chicks you run with with but besides the normal ski bunny super locals who love tourist dick, most local girls that i have met from coast to coast are super chill and most definitely not sluts. in fact it has often taken a lot just to get into their crowd to hang out with them.
i dont know about PC, but SLC has been the same for me. my chicas have up and moved from there to oregon so i dont know many people there anymore, but i had many a good clean time in Utah, disease free. with lots of smoking and drinking and partying, of course.
