I'm kind of tired of life in the flat lands of Belgium so I've been thinking of getting my ski instructor diploma this summer or begin next season. Now I've always been skiïng without that in mind and I actually know shit about this. Anyone who can give me some good advice on with what agency to do it, preferably in Europe but I don't mind going to the US or Canada so anything that can help is welcome. Ow yeah I do want to get this and work full-time as a ski instructor at some point, just FYI.

They told me the Swiss one was pretty good, and I've got some information here abouthttp://www.skiacademyswitzerland.com/ what do you guys think, to expensive?

Hi Paul (I guess),

I do have to say your website looks good, well built and very informative, it doesn't leave me behind with questions so jobb wel done!

I take it you're Paul, right? If it's ok I would like to have further contact thru Email. If you're someone else, could you leave me your email adress here.

if you're a student you can also look at doing 'ski le gap' (Canada) as a gap year or whatever. A friend of mine did 6 months there and then 6 months in Malawi (quite a change of scene you can imagine!)

where u from in Belgium (i'm living in Brussels at the mo)

peace.

I'm from overpelt, little town in Limburg, about an hour-hour and a half from brussels. What are you doing in belgium? You better have a good reason like a wife or work, cause except for our exceptional good nightlife there's nothing to do here haha

Luckily I'm not a student anymore, just received an email from Paul from Alltracks Academy, I'm pretty much convinced they offer a very good service!

I'm studying at the european school (finishing in a month or so), i totally agree with you that Belgium has nothing to do (though i try to spend most of my w-e in London, that's my real home, i've only been in Belgium a couple of years!) oh, and i thank switzerland for the skiing!

good to know you're set-up already, i checked out the details on alltracks, looks pretty sweet. I was planning on doing my ski instructor diploma in Switzerland, but i might just change my mind now!

don't laugh with that! I mean ofcourse I knew you could do it, but I had no idea where to look and what to expect, maybe those deal in these topics are a bit over the top? But they are sweet!

wil_e good luck with your studies, let me know something if you're planning on going to Whistler next winter!

Personally, at the young age of 15, the job of ski instructor doensn't really get me pumped because I would get stuck as the 'fat kid picker-upper,' coaching all the little kids instead of actually doing some skiing...

Just make sure that the company that offers it is recognized world wide...I think there is an international organization of ski instrucutor..check into that

FUCKING EXACTLY

and who goes to school to be a ski teacher?!

i just went to an 8 day training course over 4 weekends

easy shit, shitty job

i dont suggest doing it unless you actually like teaching, i just wanna ski =(

PSIA isn't recognized internationally (as far as I know), so if you were to get training and certification through them, you'd have to do it again to be able to teach in Europe. I am PSIA certified alpine level 1...it's like any job, there are good days and shitty days, but you do get alot of on-snow time in my experience.

Ski instructing breaks down your steeze, they teach you to do things a certain way, basically the opposite mindset I have about skiing. And to be an instructor, for one you can't be that sick, and secondly you cannot go have fun on the mountain all day, and third there is nothing like having to wear a unifrom on the hill.

at my hil you get a lot of free time

if i went to school for this my parents couldnt bitch me out for mot going to school at all

it doesnt break down my steeze, when im teaching i just bomb blues switch and stuff and give the kids feedback at the end, and im always showing them tricks and teaching the lil groms how to have style, getting them stoked on jumps instead of going fast like most little kids want

and practicing butters is always good when working with level 1's

hehe
