Ski Industry Antiracism Raffle on Instagram

Hey guys, Just wanted to share an antiracism raffle on Instagram that I've been working on with a few awesome folks in the industry (original post here). Hope some of you can contribute:

I mentioned in a post a little while back that it is time to listen, time for change, and time for action. It has been inspiring to see so many people in the ski industry acknowledge that we have taken so much from black culture in our sport without often giving back. As a community, we need to proactively fight for inclusion and diversity that was made difficult by systemic racism in our country. I am hoping that this will be a first step towards that commitment.

The goal of this raffle is to raise as much money as possible for organizations putting a ton of hard work and effort in the fight against racism while also encouraging anyone and everyone to get informed about the challenges that too many people face every day just because of the color of their skin. The hope is that we can raise awareness within the ski community and keep us on the path of building an inclusive environment that actively pushes against the systemic barriers that have oppressed people of color for far too long.

I was extremely fortunate to gain the support of so many great people and companies who were also passionate about pushing for change. This all would not be possible without them – I cannot thank you enough. And while this is a first step towards taking action, it is important to remember that it cannot be the last. We all have a role to play in ridding racism from this world and it will take a lot more than social media activism to do so. But with enough commitment, enough energy, and enough love, we can all work together to keep pushing for justice, for equality, and for what is right.

I'm actually working with Level 1 for this raffle. And no didn't miss it, just turned out that we actually had the same idea and they launched theirs first so I decided to wait until it was over. It was really cool to see them be so willing to help out with my smaller raffle after planning a huge one of their own, really inspiring.

Im not racist so i dont really feel like i need to buy into the whole idea that im somehow fundamentally guilty because im white. .

i would be more enthusiastic about a raffle that awarded a prize to the NS member who made the best animation of a black person assaulting the shit out of a white cop. Thats where im at right now. The “fuck the police” current mentality that 3/4 americans have in their heads right now should be used as leverage to end the drug war. And ending the drug war would be about a thousand times more helpful to black people than getting white people to reiterate the need to ostracize racists even though racists are already ostracized heavily.

the cops are they problem. They treat whites like shit too, even though black people and hispanics obviously get it worse.

if you really want to do some healing then make a raffle encouraging the release of every black inmate from prison who was in for nonviolent drug offenses. Trump has already been a better friend to black people than obama was by the changes he made to the criminal justice system that favored black people, but there is still alot more that can be done; we could bring millions of black people home so their kids could grow up with a father. The poor black guys sitting in prison for 20 years talking to their wife and kids through glass probably would view their release from prison as a better way to undo and fight racism.

You gotta fight fire with fire. If timothy mcveigh wrote a poem about how sad waco was and how the nerve of government agents and entities was out of control, maybe a few people would read it and say “interesting” then take another bite out of their sandwich and forget about it. The reason cops are taught to be steel reinforced cunts is because they are the business end of the government, and the government is a giant steel reinforced cunt. The government wants mind control over its citizens. Youve all heard about the cia lsd shit. Its fucked up. The government wants the citizens to fear police because then they get the message that they cant fuck with the government. Same with dodging taxes. free speech is a major threat to the government when the government becomes “unreasonably large”—because reason wins public opinion through free speech.

the internet allows the most reasonable arguments to conquer unreasonable fallacies. It is of course reasonable to have some government, so reason on the internet in the form of free speech will defend the existence of small government. But if the government gets so large that it is unreasonable, then more and more people will adopt the opinion that gov is too large and things will change over time to shrink government. Free speech is going to slowly and inexorably lead us to atlas shrugged-minded libertarianism.

i mean look at how far libertarianism has come in 15 years. People even on ns said weed would never be legalized in america. And look at now. We are about to end the fucking drug war.

busdrivers in big cities make over 100k a year. Thats almost more than engineers at apple make. Think about that. If civilization is a human body, which is a valuable organ like the brain, and which is a lung tumor trying to steal the brains blood supply? Duh... the apple engineer makes a product that can cheaply bring infinite education ability to every citizen for very cheap. The bus driver does a necessary job, but 100k a year or more, because the busdriver works for the government? No. Thats the lung tumor. Thats cancer.

free speech is the best shit ever, its like uma thurmans special samurai sword in kill bill. You simply cannot defeat reason with fallacy in a fair playing field like the internet. Obama can claim on tv that race doesnt exist, but slowly but surely the uma thurmans of the internet will be inexorably slicing and dicing that fallacy person by person all the way up until obama admits he was wrong. The internet is a fucking force of nature.
