so i have this idea of a way to make skis lighter, and more flexible. for the base matieral, use like a hemp stalk because its light, and can be thin/flexabile enough to form a ski. im not sure about the durablity...but just a thought.
At first, it made sense. I'll tell you why, I thought 'hemp' and 'stalk' were one word, 'halk'. And I thought that if combining words was possible, why not a hemp ski?
I'm sure ski companies have looked into how to make skis lighter, and Liberty makes their skis with bamboo. But hemp stalk, I don't know. I don't think it would be durable enough to even get a season out of. What if they were too flexy? Almost not-rideable
I'm glad I opened this thread up actually because I want to make ski's with hemp in them. I want to test a different method and try replacing extremely durable hemp woven fabric in place of a braided fiberglass weave. They have similar qualities I really don't know if hemp is actually lighter or anything. It get's epoxied into the ski, that's the only way I see it happening.
i was going so fast my bases started to smoke and i got HIGH. REALLY FUCKIN HIGH. cause that shit was LACED. laced as FUCK. there was GLUE. FUCKING GLUE in that shit. and FIBERGLASS. i was SOOOOOOOOOOO blazed
