Ski Hills?

Next year my friends and I are moving to Ironwood, Michigan. We were wondering which of the four hills have the best park and powder? Is there any good pow skiing down highway 2?

Bohemia's pretty much the only place you'll find anything people would consider powder in Michigan....as far as park you might be kinda out of luck up north, Marquette's park has been on a pretty steep decline the last couple years. I don't know for sure, Im from Grand Rapids so I don't really know....

well put it this way, bohemia is sick for powder IF you get there on the day of a snow, after that it gets crusty and sucks cuz they dont groom. but park wise, cannonsburg has the best park IMO, then otsego, then prob boyne. but yeah dont be expecting pow in michigan...

first of why are you moving to Ironwood? Are you going to school at Gogebic? I lived there for 4 years and went to school there for ski area management. All of the 4 Ski Area's are good they all have something different about them. Indianhead is good. My favorite was Blackjack which just reopened 2 years ago I believe there park along with Powderhorn has been pretty good the last couple years. Then there is Whitecap if there is ever fresh snow this place is the shit a total different experience then the other 3 place's its alittle bit farther down the road then the other 3 but worth it. If you are going to Gogebic Mount Zion which is the Ski hill on campus is alot of fun and is free if you are going to school there.

After i got done with school up there i moved back home and went to school for tv and video production. then two years later after that once i was done i moved to Colorado and worked at Vail for to winters as a groomer. that summer when i was apllying for jobs i had alot of options with out trying to hard. (Park City, Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone) just to name a few. Know i work at a ski shop in my hometown. Built park for a couple years at one of the local ski area's.
The college is great small but nice. I spent 4 years in ironwood met a lot of good people and made good friends a lot of people I still talk and see. I take your going for SAM ( Ski Area Management) the program is a lot of fun your learn so much in that first year then the 8 weeks your 2nd year is a blur. Jim Vanderspoel is the guy thats in charge of the program really nice guy I learned so much from him the time i was there. The town of ironwood is alright super small. Just have to make the most out of it when its not winter time. Like i said before I loved it up there no complaints at all.
feel free to ask more questions if you have any.

michigan pow what a joke but go to bohemia for pow, Granite peak is a bit of a drive but they have a super sick park, Bittersweets park is pretty good too.

michigan gets snow you just gotta hike and find wide open tree runs that keep snow and drifts and not be pissed when its over too quick but do it again. i slash deep pow in michigan, it totally happens
