do any of you fellow newschooloers ski this hidden gem near lake george? this year i plan on splitting time between here and mountain creek in new jersey and i was wondering who i would encounter along the way
definetally try to check it out. some sick trees and really fun lines. the coolest thing about it is that they are closed in the week so if it snows say monday or tuesday, you're still gauranteed to get fresh tracks. hopefully i'll see you there this year
I spent a handful of days at belleayre last year, but that was day trips and following the storm paths. Lake george has some cheap places to stay and if hickory is as natural and low-key as it seems i'll definately be making an appearance. holler at me if you see some filthy turquoise trewth bibbs.
And super gnarly terrain. Steep, consistent fall line. Tons of hidden tree stashes. Pretty much a wall-to-wall skiing policy with some good stuff off the back side. Small cliff drops in the early season pretty much turn into pillow lines with good snow. Expect to be BEAT by lunch time since you're standing all day... All surface lifts. I think they're running college deals or 2-fer-1s on Sundays or something. I'll report back once I get the details for sure.
So stoked to get out there this year.
Is this PK by any chance?
They already got slayed once this season... the day before Thanksgiving.
^ Damn thats awesome. I've never been there but it seems like it approaches skiing the way it was meant to be.I imagine the crowds are nonexistent, I cant wait to hit some pow there if we ever get any.
yea it never gets crowded... and on the topic of pow, it's closed during the week so for instance, if it snows on a tuesday, unless it freezes over you're gaurenteed fresh tracks on saturday. Thats probably my favorite part about it
You can pretty much count on a good day following any Nor' Easter to the east coast. Hickory/Gore more times than not get SLAMMED with snow after those storms
