Ski failures this past year?

So ns what skis did you break this year? I broke a pair of Pipe cleaners. I ground through the entire edge. Wasn't the ski's fault though, and my pops repaired it with ease.

For the rest of the season I was on my 9thwards from 2006. The topsheets are hacked up real bad, and the edge is cracked but for a pair of almost decade old skis, with an unknown amount of days on them, they held up nicely.

delammed a pair of 2011 afterbangs,no big surprise there

I riveted them back together though and they've held up really well now.

I'm somewhat riding 2006 Scott p4s that have been through every owner abusing them, and I totally ripped off the half delammed top sheet when I repainted them. The ski itself, despite a mush core is still going strong, it's just the bindings that are keeping me off of them :(

Core shot on Nordica fire arrows from 2012, the bindings were also held in with wood filler, Elmer's glue, and old mismatched screws because i didn't want to go find epoxy (backyard ski anyway). it was pretty inevitable that they'd break.

got really into park this year and bought schitzos and k2 domains new from a friend for a good deal and I broke 3 brakes but that always happens, went through the 3 pairs of poles and I'm missing about 2 inches of edge about 10 edge cracks and some missing side wall But I beat the shut out of them and I'm Not really suprized all that happened

Icelantic danollies snapped last august, second pair of danollies cracked the core under foot this april and lost over half the edge, ripped out of some on3p filthy riches in Feb. plus no more edge underfoot... Now I am on some J allplays and they seem to be holding up relatively well minus a few edge cracks. I feel like I am just really unlucky cause I don't ski that hard compared to a lot of people. Anybody else going through three (or more) park skis per season? It is a very expensive habit

How big are you? Also, those companies you listed have pretty good warranties so take advantage!

6ft 175lbs and I thought rail damage voids your warranty? because the edges on all of em are pretty much destroyed so i figured they wouldnt be warranty-able

3 pairs of boots a pair of dynafit Radical bindings and very sadly my s9-16 steels, although they are just about rideable still. No skis amazingly.

Armada El Reys, blew out the sidewall after a relatively mellow season, and blew them out on one day of riding really hard

Maybe 20 days including one mellow urban night on my brand new Domains and the edge began to pop out on one of the tails. Also popped a nose rivet out like fifth run. Shit skis and I ski way harder now than on my previous pair too.

Been using my old Caylors since February because they're way more solid anyway. They're faster and landing everything just feels so much better.

Both tips on my salomons came apart and the edge fell off from the sides. My teton's tips came apart as well and the edge came off too. My brake broke on a pair of rossignols and also got some mean core shots.

Went through 3 pairs this season..

I broke my wrist and the rest of me, lost 3 pairs of gloves, and bent 2 poles.

They usually do, but those companies sometimes will still warranty you, whether they replace the ski, fix the ski, or give you a discount for more or their skis. Id say you ski more aggressive than you think if you've gotten edge cracks on 2.2x2.2 + edges multiple times that easily

Was trying some tail buttering on some really old volkl gotamas. Cracked the core apart. Just rode it out for the rest of the day.

Ripped a pair of Pivots out of my Surface one lifes and lost the heelpiece. ripped the edge out of the tip of my liberty antigens and snapped the first 4 inches of the edge completely off. Broke 2 sets of poles, ripped open a pair of pants on opening day. It was a rough year for my gear.

Went through 3 pair of APOs. All of them had between 100- 140 days on them. Sammy's bent when I over rotated a 3 and wrecked my shit hard, Starsky's blew out 3 feet of edge when I tried to slam the back side of a bump for face shots, and my all time fave ski the Paragon started separating at the base/edge. Most skis I've ever rolled thru in 30 seasons.

broke both of my marker at bindings in a crash midyear but I sent em in and they gave me next years so its all good

Went through 2 pairs of poles, one on the last day of the year, base is separating from the ski, 4 edge cracks along with that, lost 2 pairs of gloves, a pair of gloves and my tow rope guards got ripped up by a tow rope (I ski in MN), lost a screw for my boots, helmet broke, and my mom borrowed a pair of my googles in Colorado and lost them. It was a rough year.

I broke 7 pairs last season.... None this season though

Dang.. What brand and model we're you riding this season? Or were you riding multiple pairs Of various companies?

Future Spins, I snapped the tail doing a double front flip. It wasn't my fault though, this little snowboarder kid peer pressured me. Later I snapped the nose, that was my fault, I got hung up skiing down a stair set in Santa Monica.

Well I was on Whitedots last year and then Icelantics this year.... Quite the change in durability

Eric just hit them up once you start working rope tows in a week or two. And don't be modest haha you're always killin rails.

But onto the post, snapped a pair of Rossi sprayers (joke of a ski) got some Rossi slats, rode those for a good while got tired of how stiff they were. Then got some revision talismans snapped the core on one tail but still riding them, revision did replace them on defect though so that's good. I'm in my first year of skiing and I can already see it becoming a massively expensive lifestyle

Just curious: do you detune your edges underfoot before you start hitting rails?

I usually take a file to the underfoot sections and try to get the edges there nice and round. Everyone swears it helps with durability but I've mostly noticed that it helps with catching on rails. I personally haven't seen much difference in durability ( couple years ago I used to not de-tune). I do ski a bit harder on rails than I used to so this may also be a factor.

I fucked my griffons up. The heal piece can easily slide along the track so when I eject my heal piece comes off. So I have to have my dins set super high so I don't eject and I'm terrified of tearing an ACL

I did a real number on my 2012 stepups but this was my 3rd season on them.

then bought a pair of icelantic da'nollies and I fucking love the ski but god damn they fall apart. in ~6 weeks I had 6 edge cracks on a single edge. they have a 2 year warranty but I can't imagine they honor it if you've ridden them in the park.

De-tune your tips and tails! It doesn't help with durability, but it will definitely save you from a bad catch while buttering, or skiing in general.

If your griffins are that wrecked, they will most likely fail before your knees do

Massive delam on my abangs, gflexed them and they're good to go.

Exploded the front edge out on both skis of my Surface double times. Gflexed them too and they're all good.

I rode the k2 press this season and they stayed in good shape but a few of my friends had the line future spins, masterminds and afterbangs and they all were delamed less than halfway through the season

My Lizzie's have a delaminated edge underfoot that happened a few years ago. They were my only pair of skis available to bring to peace pipe and I really fucked them, about a foot of edge is not attached to the ski. First day riding them this year too. Coulda warranties them for a par of bacons back when it originally happened, but there is no substitute for my Lizzie's.
