It depends. I've used final cut 7 for many years now, but apple will be phasing out those licences...rendering my program useless.

I good amount of adobe products for my films(after effects, light room, ps). Premier is really nice because it can streamline my projects from different programs right into premier.

I would do some research before you buy. Both are expensive and once you buy, you will most likely stick with that.
 
Final Cut Pro is obviously the best. You can also just download the free trial and keep the date on your computer back so it never expires. Or, you could just torrent it from by pretty much watching any tutorial on YouTube. Adobe After Effects is also very good, but if you are doing longer edits look into Sony Vegas Pro, another great program. You can easily torrent both programs, just watch tutorials on how to on YouTube.
 
people saying final cut have obviously never used cs6. You can set the interface up almost identical to FCP so there is no learning curve either.
 
this. if you trim the clips right with the camera and film half decently this is all you really need. my camera has a little app for it that lets me do some extra little things and other than that wmm is sick. i love when all these kids i know have final cut pro and there edits look like shit and others can use wmm and film decently and the edits ballin

I am currently developing 3 new software ski editing programs. The first program which will be equivalent to imovie will be called Gaper Pro: Ski editing for professional gapers. The second program, equivalent to final cut express will be called Chads Gap The Tanner Hall Edition: You still have a ways to go. The last ski editing program will be called AfterBang 7: The steeziest thing out there.

But I would recommend Final Cut express, you can get a lot of the same features as fcp but it is a lot less confusing.
 
FCP 7 or Adobe Premiere. I prefer FCP just because i have always used it, but if your just starting out your better off learning premiere cause fcp is dying.
