Ski damage

this might sound like a really stupid question but ive never had a summer set up but i was wondering how badly a pvc pipe summer set up with turf drop in could mess up your skis or any ideas on how to prevent them from getting damaged,

if there aren't any nails, screws, staples, or bare wood sticking out of your summer setup and you don't hit the front edge of a PVC pipe with your base or land on rocks... nothing SHOULD happen. however it's very hard to eliminate all of those factors.
