Ski Comps

Hey guys, theres a comp coming up at my local hill. Are comps worth going to if you know your not going to win? This is my first year and for a first year skiing i am good and the guys i ride with are trying to get me to go in the comp with them. I dont want to embarass myself and be the worst rider there and i have never been in one before. Should i go for it? I am looking for advice, not someone to make up my opinion for me. I have a mind of my own and i will make my decison,just looking for help
 
if you have fun its worth it. i went in a "big air" comp at my local hill (like a 25ft jump) when i was 12 and did some japans and blunt zerospins. i came 4th.
 
yea i like what he said about having fun, but i also dont think there's any harm in not entering yet until youve got some more tricks. you can still ski around and all and root on your friends, just maybe get a half decent trick down that you can have fun with at comps
 
I have never placed in a comp and I have done a fair amount but there awesome. i guarantee you will improve so much
 
since im 13 and in the younger age group i always enter because i have a good chance at winning even though im really bad. its still really funt o compete though, i like it a lot.
 
Im going to go for it

I went up yesterday and they had the jumps for the comp set up. One was a 25 foot and the other was a 40 foot. I was doing 3's and mute 3's a few nice 5's and almost had my seven. Then on the 40 i was doing threes and almost getting my fives, gottta lean back more or something.

comps are amazingly fun, no one will make fun of u, the most fun ones are jams, cause everyone throws down crazy shit and the atmosphere is great, u will prolly try some new tricks because everyone is so encouraging, its worth it!
 
1. You need to get experience competing if you are ever going to do well.
2. Everybody sucks at first but nobody cares how good you are or if you are the shittiest.
 
competing is great for progression

other peole throwing down typically inspires you to do the same!
