Ski Companies, Athletes, and Consumers

Also if you don't get the whole point of this thread cuz it's pretty late at night and I'm probably not sane.

This is about how influential a athlete truly is on a company and the people that buy their skis.

Congratulations, you just figured why sponsorship exists

If you literally read the first line of my original post it says I know the answer to my own question. I'm just wondering about similar stories you guys have....

We sold plenty of Filthy Rich before Magnus was on the team (ironically, for what it is worth, the Magnus is actually LESS rockered now than the Filthy Rich was when we released it in 2011 - so only gotten more stable over time). If all it took was killer athletes to sell skis, I would flood our team budget. Athletes contribute & help build to a brand's identity, provide critical marketing content, and help shape the development of the ski line, but a killer team is not synonymous for killer sales - something I have first hand knowledge of. Building any business is hard, and nothing is as cut and dry as simply who is on which skis. As for most things in life, it isn't that simple.

My similair experience is I am def an ON3P fanboy mainly because i’m a native Oregonian and I support all locs. Their Athletes throw down.. but I never really knew they had an actual team until m1sta_mango joined.

I drive the Wrenegade 98’s they are a killer set of skis that I think I may just keep for my life (I bet you they last me that long too). I also demoed the Steeples as well as the BG’s both skis just blew me away.. the truth is I want all of ON3P’s skis.. they just seem like my kind of skis.. The technology in ON3P skis is something else! aside from all of that I have also tried great skis from Volkl and K2 their skis are the other skis I would be on had I not been a fanboy of ON3P and their lineup.

I have yet to try the rest of their lineup.. but all I have to say about the company is.. there is more to them than fancy graphics, a swervy team, and some killer skis, ON3P is such a down to earth ski company, If that makes sense.. or maybe only Oregonians would understand ahah... Maybe!

nah this isn't about on3p it's just about companies in general. Trust me I love on3p aswell they make great skis and they're doing this ski industry a favor a huge favor.

People could also say this about Vishnu. Each brand is tailoring twoard a specific audience, which is why you don't see DPS or Black Diamond sponsoring Magnus. It just doesn't work. That being said, I think you would be hard pressed to find a "shitty" ski these days. Skis are just getting really specialized, and I don't think a company that makes low quality skis would last more than a season.
