This is a very inaccurate statement.
And to the OP, I know it has been mentioned several times, but the University of Utah has a fairly good engineering program. The program is ranked around 60 overall in the U.S. but the biomedical engineering program is ranked around 20 if you happen to enjoy that side of engineering. I am definitely satisfied with the education I am getting. As far as skiing and engineering go, it does not get any better. You have a handful of world class resorts within a 30 minute drive. I managed to ski 70 days so far this season even with taking four weeks off mid season due to injury. It is definitely manageable as long as you have your priorities in order.
