Ski Club Ideas

If possible, a rail jam wherever there’s a big patch of grass. My schools club got some snow from the ice rink, a pvc pipe and pallets for a drop in. It was super sick watching people shred between class.

Have a best clips competition monthly. People send in their best clips and worst crashes and have a prize for both. It gets people to come to meetings and more folks filming their skiing.

Learn how to wax your ski/board activity

While the rest of that is kinda corny, ski maintenance and upkeep is pretty important.

I’m a sucker for a fall Pray for Snow party. Get a bunch of waxing gear and some folks willing to walk others through it, a fire and some dogs, and a cooler for people to drop cans into. End the night with having the spiritual friend say a word and a prayer then play a ski flick projected onto a bed sheet. This has become what me and a friend do as a joint bday party every year.

If there's a trampoline park or foam pit or whatever nearby have a monthly session there

'Backyard' setup and BBQ on campus

Haircut initiation where everyone does someone else's

Backcountry and avalanche safety info/training session

Ski care - waxing and tuning sessions

See if some industry character is willing to come to campus and to a talk

Organize a fun race for when it's ski season

Movie night and a wax party are the best ways to get people fired up in October. At my school we were able to use one of the theatres, so big screen, legit projector, and seating for tons of folks. Reached out to some local ski shops and got some swag to raffle off as well (wax, base layers, goggles, little shit like that), as well as our own club gear. For the wax party we just did it in the garage of one of the homies. Everyone brings beer/skis/wax, and gets fired up. Ideally do this a week or two before opening day.
