A few of us have been interested in making skis for ourselves.

Ok so I've been pricing things out. The press will probably cost about 150-175 plus w/e the fire hose costs. We can probably get the fire hose for cheap from sombody on skibuilders.com ($1 per foot) but then the shipping could be really expensive depending on where he is from. So the whole press will probably end up costing around $200 give or take 25 either way.

As for the core profiler we should have enough MDH board left from the press molds to make that without any cost. However does anyone happen to own a router? On that topic does anyone own a hand held belt sander?

Now the materials for a pair of skis will cost around $200 from what me and eric have looked at. (I went to www.snowboardmaterials.com and priced it all out there but we can probably get it from somwhere else to)

One final thing. We need a place to do this. I thought we had somwhere but I found out we cant use that so does anyone who's interested in making skis have a place where we could do this?
 
well my dad does but its his own, and does some one want to post a pic of a router cause when i search router all that comes up is a wireless router for a computer

ummm andrew.... if im not mistaken, but didnt you tell me you still owed your parents 1000 bucks for camp? how are you gunna pay them back and get this ski building started?
 
well we have pretty much all the tools we need. We just need the press and then the materials to make the skis. It's not to save money though, it's to have somthing really cool that you made and make exactly what you want., I get the feeling nobody is gonna acctually want to do it though so it will die
 
i would do it but would be each individualy have to pay money for materials for our skis im guessing ya and how much
 
no gavin I think I'll pay for yours. Materials for a pair of skis will be from 200-300 dollars. Maybee cheaper if lots of people wanna do it cause then we can get the stuff in bulk. Don't forget if you wanna do it you'll need to pitch in some for the press too
 
ya about that. Then a lot of time and effort. Does anyone have clamps? We have 2 but we're gonna need a lot more
 
I've got 10ish clamps, a table saw, bunch of drills, sanders, and all that crap. Pretty much everything but the router.
 
My dad said that we couldnt use his shop, but we might be able to once in a blue moon

i have everything said in past posts and stuff on the list, except for the router but its all at my dads shop.

My sister works at Home Depot and she said she could get us somewhat of a deal on wood and other materials.

ya ferns have a router. So we have all the tools we'd need. We just need a place to do it. How far out of town do you live eric and would you have anywhere to do it?
 
Sweet, I didn't see that page on base material. I live like 30-40 minutes out of town, We have a garage but it's full of shit, I'm going to ask my dad if we could use his shop.
