Ski boots as part of hand baggage

I am going to NZ for the Summer and was wondering whether anyone has brought their ski boots over their shoulder with their hand baggage on the plane. This would eliminate my need for a boot bag and cut down on luggage but obviously if airlines have a problem with it, then it is probably more hassle than its worth.... Has anyone done this....

yeah man it's no problem... If your not flying international, it's all gravy. I flew from arizona to colorado last week with my boots over my shoulder so there's no need to worry. have fun on your trip man.

peace

He said that he was flying to NZ, sooo hes obviously flying international... just thought I would throw that out there.

He didn't right where he's flying from though... If he's flying from Australia, I would assume that there would be no problem there either. Anyways, just give it a try dude.

i've carried mine over my shoulder, or strapped to my pack, several times. other people on the plane sometimes get pissed if your boots bump into them when you're walking down the aisle, but i've never had problems getting through security or with flight attendants. gotta pack light with all these new flight regulations these days!

in march of 2007 i flew from seattle, washington to bormio, italy with my ski boots on my shoulders. absolutely no problems or the slightest of questions asked. i don't think it'll be a problem!

yeah they usually hit just about everyone on those skinny ass isles haha, nobody has ever said anything to me though~

thanks for all the advice. I just figured Id rather not take a boot bag as I am only allowed 1 bag (20kg) plus my ski bag and hand luggage. I have 36 hours of travel to endure, which goes as follows Edinburgh----London-------Bangkok------Sydney--------Christchurch...

I hope my bags are there at the other end.......
