Ski Boot Injuries

So i'm having this problem, I've been skiing for like 4 years and have been using the same shitty salomon performa 2.0's my entire carreer. Now I was landing way to back seat on some misty 7's and I just minorly pulled the the muscle in the back of my leg, I beleive because my boot doesn't come up high enough on my leg. So I decided to buy some new boots, some pimp ass technica's. They are so nice but after about an hour of riding with them the ball of my ankles on either side of my foot felt like they were honestly broken. The pain is unbareable. I attempted to get them heat molded, didn't work. I stopped skiing for almost a full entire month, stepped back into them and the pain returns after like 15 minutes. I decided to get an x-ray and I had a chip fracture in my ankle so i gave it 6 weeks to heal, and it did. Went back to ski and the pain was worse, I got another x-ray and there is aboslutely nothing wrong. But the thing is, when i put on my old shitty ass boots, there is absolutely no pain, i can ski all day, they are just such horrible boots and i can't hit jumps when i where them. I can't understand whats going on, any insite?

Go to a bootfitter, but it sounds like your boots are too soft. Escpecially since theyre Performas. I have the Performa 5 and its alright for a recreational boot, but I need something stiffer performance wise.

I feel you, the technica's i bought are pretty stiff interms of the actuall boot though, nice and soft on the inside which is why I am having trouble understanding why it's aggrivating my foot so much. Like I am thinking a skid with those shitty boots for so long (which are waaayy to small by the way), that i like reformed my liggiments or nerves or something around that point of my foot and this boot has different pressure points that are fucking with it. I dunno. It's just annoying as fuck, i want to use my new boots.

yea get them grinded out.. i did that with my pair last year and it worked really well!! thell find the pressure points and all..

Get the Eliminators. THey are basically just really soft shin guards but they slip in the front of your boots and make them fit sooo much better. I have an extremely shitty pair of old langes and since i got Eliminators i havent had shin bag, arch ache, or any type of foot/leg pain.

Is it right on the ball of your ankle, or right below? Cause I had a problem with my technicas right below the ball of my ankle on that little tiny bone there. Had em punched out and they feel like house slippers now.

did you pull out the liner just to see if everything looked alright inside the shell?? have them grinded or punched out... that should eliminate pressure points.

that's such an easy fix, just bring them in to a good bootfitter. grinding is easy stuff, especially right on the side of the ankle bone where it pronates out just a little.

Go to the best bootfitter you can find, even if its a long distance, it will be worth it. Another thing is use a booster strap instead of the strap on your boot. It doesn't directly relate to your shin pain, but should increase overall comfort and performance.

seing you had performa 2 and used them a lot means you obviously didnt know anythign about ski boots, these would eb the worst boots for park ever. anyway maybe you were poor and couldnt afford new boots.

I highly suggest you to read the before buying boot thread on the ski equipment part of this website and learn from your mistake causeyou obviously didnt buy the right boot for you. what I can suggest you now is that you go see a boot fitter and see what he can do. maybe you should jut get a new pair of bots that fits you if you have the moeny to do it.

Yeah, that little bone made me want to cry like a little bitch. I guess it's pretty common though. My boot guy knew technical name for it and everything, he was like, "oh yes, thats yer panchuko lickalotapuss. I'll have em for you friday" and It hasn't hurt since.
