Ski Base Crack

This is my first year on these Line Masterminds (2012). I noticed this crack in the tip, and as you can see there is a crack in the base.

I also noticed that the same tip is starting to delaminate.

My question is: can I just epoxy the crack and the tip so that they are water tight (prevent swelling) so I can finish the season on these skis? I talked to two local ski shops and that is the advice that they gave me, beyond just ripping out the ptex in the ski and patching in a new piece. I bought them as my first park ski, and I am buying a new pair next season, because honestly these skis aren't built very well and won't last me another year.

I really appreciate the help, +k for advice.

Try to epoxy and set with some mini c clamps. It may not hold for the whole season, but it's worth a shot.

+1 for epoxy. But try and lift or spread the crack, and get the epoxy in there. Then when you clamp it, it will hopefully be pushed into all the voids, and there won't be trapped air. Put plastic bags or tarp or something on whatever you're clamping with so you don't permanently bond a clamp to your tip. Plus it's on the tip, so you could have a bump without much issue.

epoxy will only go so far and a rivet (after it gets worse) won't fix that problem since it'll just break around it once it gets worse. If you bought within a year ago I'd say send em in for warranty.

I would go with warranty at the end of the season. I would save up during the summer for a more durable pair of skis. Masterminds just seem to explode all the time.

Word, thanks guys.

If I epoxy the delaminated tip, will it void the warranty? I am tempted to epoxy now, and then send it in at the end of the season.

This is how my Anthems died after a little over two years. All four tips at once. And now my Afterbangs are doing the same thing without the base tearing. I already epoxied them once last spring, but they need it again. Good thing they're only my urban/setup skis now.

In my mind (no pun intended), the masterminds are shitty. There was a thread about someone breaking them on an airbag, my friends delammed, and now this. Warranty
