Needless to say, I am stoked to shit about ski big air being an Olympic sport now. While thinking about it I have come to the logical conclusion that 'ski ballet' needs to come back (or be added as a new event - depending on how you look at it) to the Olympics.
My reasoning is as such:
- ski big air is a thing now and on Tueaday the 8th the world will be aware. From where I'm standing (sitting I guess) the moment medals are given out to skiers for doing switch triple 1800s(+) on different axis with different grab variations it HAS to be the end of Aerials as an Olympic discipline.
- this would open up a slot on the roster for a new freestyle skiing discipline to be added and Ski Ballet would fit beautifully. Besides the old school tricks from back in the day that aspect of skiing has truly evolved in the past decade. Whether you want to admit it or not, a lot of 'new wave' and flat land/knuckle butter tricks are very much on the same page as old school ski ballet tricks.
I picture something between the classic ski ballet venue (essentially a bunny hill) and a knuckle huck for the 'course'. Some flats, rollers, maybe a picnic table or other low jibs.
Let's make this happen.
