Ski advice help!

so basically i've been snowboarding my whole life, its fun but i wanna get into skiing..looks so sick..i was just looking for advice about good skiis, sizing, bindings boots stuff like that... any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

There is no best ski. The "best" for you, might be totally different then the "best" for someone else. Your best bet is to the mountain and try out a bunch of different skis. See which ones feel the best for you.

Ski length:

my skis are 182 and im 179cm maybe 180cm this year :-) but basically dont let ski length drop under your nose, skis at around eyebrow/forehead is pretty solid choice, too short skis make you look kinda foolishh, ofc u might feel more agile but ye.. few centimetres down from your own length and you're fine.

Bindigs:

since you are just getting into skiing, you dont necessarily need anything superb, any normal ski binding will do.. just dont buy the first cheapest one, they just break. maybe buy set of skis with bindings in them?

shouldnt be too bad.

Boots:

u go in some store where you can test them it would be good, salomon SPK's works very well, or some cheap fulltilts like the drop kicks/booter. (i have booter and lightest, and comfiest boots i have ever own)

but basically any boot is just fine. sizes vary between makers, dalbello and full tilts have quite big size difference between each other so it would be nice for u to test boots first so u dont end up buying too big/too small. but its not that far away from your everyday boot u use for walking and sht.. maybe buy little bigger so u can fill more warm socks in them and stay nice and warm in slopes..

Helmet:

Yes.

what skis to buy?: again, you're starting and its not that big deal, i dont know how old/tall you are but armada codas were my favourite when i was 13.. line afterbang.. and really cheap and really good ski atomic infamous. just about any ski will do just fine..

and then just go ski.

And didnt see your length before, so ur 172cm, a ski lentgh at around 168 would be pretty good. nothing above 172cm though, 166 - 170 would be my suggestion

I've got a mate in the same position as you..starting skiing from snowboarding.

As for skis, length is completely up to you. Don't let people tell you that you are wrong...it's completely your preference since you are the one skiing on them. Im 174cm tall and ride 184s. That's just how I like them.

I would recommend getting maybe demo skis? Since you are new they don't really matter and you can thrash them...once you get better you'll want new skis anyway.

And as said above, binding aren't too important when starting out.

Boots are the most important though...Spend your money on boots. Nothing worse that having boots that dont fit properly and your feet are mangled when skiing. Go to a bootfitter and get fitted.

Hope that helps

step 1: go tohttp://www.levelninesports.com/

step 2: buy these in a 171 or 176 if you have any ski experience at allhttp://www.levelninesports.com/Atomic-2014-Infamous-Skis or any of the cheap ninthwards in a similar size.

step 3: these bindings :http://www.levelninesports.com/Rossignol-2013-Fks-140-Ski-Bindings (NOT a beginner binding but you will not regret it if you stick with skiing. even if you dont you can resell them easily), or the tyrolia ld 12 if you want to go cheap.

step 4 : go to your local shop and try on ski boots then buy them.

there you go.

No. Never buy boots too big. And you don't need warm socks. Boot liners are thick enough to keep you warm even with a thin sock.If you're cold, you're in a poor fitting boot.
