Skating vs. skiing

this is a question for all the skaters. why is i that skateboarders can do a 3 and it is a winning trick, but in skiing you have to do to some kind of 9 or something.is it harder or something?

skating is a lot different. the 3 that won x-games big air was steezy, also its harder to spin because your not attached to the board. Landing skiing is soft, landing skating is hard. You need to focas on absorbing impact skating where skiing you can focas on the spins, or grabs. A No grab 3 skating is like a super stezzy switch zero spin on skis, but you hardly ever see them in comps so it looks better when you do.

skis have edges and you can set the spin by carving in the direction.

skateboards have wheels and these little rubber things really need to be completely in the air before the spin starts.

skis are attached to your feet

skateboards can fall away from you

on skis, you can put your feet together and tuck in to make you spin faster

on a skateboard, your feet are usually over the trucks when youre spinning.

not a skate boarder but im pretty sure you would have to land like 99% perfect. landing back seat would just shoot the board out from you, and underrotating on skis you will still slide unless you catch an edge, on a skate board i could see the wheels catching and you eating harsh mega ramp.
i am prepared to be very wrong lol

landing a trick on a skateboard is hard. you have a moving object that isn't attached to your feet and you don't have a lot of surface area. landing on skis you have a lot more surface area if front of you and behind you. easier in a way to catch yourself from falling.

Fancy name for a strait air

As for the thread question, its proly because the board isnt attatched to your feet, so you have to figure out a way to make it spin with you, whereas in skiing, your clipped in, so you just spin your body and the skis spin also.

i can do a fakie three on a skateboard, but its much easier to do a 360 on ski's mainly just because your in the air like 8ft+ and have an actual hang time, while on a skateboard your a foot above the ground and in the air for mila seconds.

iv skated for a year and i can kickflip, fakie 3, and a bunch of bs/fs 180 variations.
iv skied for 2 years and my most clean, consistent best trick is a high mute seven as well as lip 2s

Skating is a lot harder. Also I noticed that skaters were the inventers of heavy head. If you look at all the old videos of muska and mullen they heavy head the shit out of staircases.
