Skateboarding

So I realise that I have nothing to do in the summer, so I figure I'll give stakeboarding a try. I did it a while ago, in elementary school, but I'd like to have a go once more.

So what do you guys suggest as a nice easy set up for a beginner like myself?

just go to your local skate shop and get a basic setup. A blank deck, get some decent trucks (royal), blank wheels, abec 3s or 5s.

how much does it usually cost for a "basic setup"?

my friend told me he punches one out into his hand and throws it (load) at his chicks face and yells "yahtzee!" no lie.-couchskier

Shouldn't be much. If you are on a tight budget though, find some other skateboarders that are well in to the sport, no doubt they have trucks/wheels/bearings that they don't use.

they have completes for brand names online for like 80 or 90 USD

Deffinatly DONT get royals or destructos.....I myself am a skater with 5 years of experience ive had both those truck brands......you'll have soooo many problems with them, kingpins break wayyyyyyyyy to often, bushings get fucked, and sometimes even when spazzing out (throwing ur board around) the metal parts randomly snap in half, also the axels bend.....thunder trucks are the best ive ever had, I highly recomend those....or ventures, they are good too......but then again you are just a begginer so you wont be going to crazy on them just yet.

but yeah just buy the store brand board...which will be like 50 bucks...choose whatever trucks you decide you want, and some blank wheels are good. As for bearings just get a brand name that are about 20+ dollars.

good plan for the summer.

I've never had a problem with any of my royals. I also have some thunders on one of my skates. Thunders are a built truck, def. heavier but yes they are stronger. They are quite a bit cheaper too. I still say royal is a better truck.

Well i guess all im saying is i some how managed to break 7 kingpins in 3 weeks......and im skinny as fuck. Also im guessing you are probably right about royals being a lighter truck, but its only by like half a pound.....not even, basically theres no difference(to me).

if you plan on doing bowl get big wheels, street get small wheels and low trucks. Thats pretty much all you need at the start. If you want to try everything go for 53's

yeah get a blank deck, there no diff from companies like black label or any other companies they just don't have more than one color of paint on the bottom and there cheaper
