Skate ramp plans

so my buddy and i are gonna build a 4 foot quarter pipe in shop class cuz our teacher is pretty ballin and says we can do whatever. i was just wondering if anybody has any skate plans or anything. we could try and do it without plans but it might come out shitty after spending about 150 dollars on it.

meh i dunno...i looked into it and plywood is fucking expensive and it really depends on how long its going to be also...most people want to put a covering ontop of the plywood also such as cork or some sort of rubber you dont get fat slivers when you fall...

If you search around there are plenty of free plans on the internet that are basically copies of the ones you pay for.. if you can't find them I can give you verbal plans that are pretty accurate, but its easier with a picture

ill try to find the exact plans for you but i built a four foot tall 8 foot wide full halfpipe with hand rails and shit for $500. it should be easy enough to build a reamp for 150

wow thanks alot for all that help, i'll probably use those plans you just found on that site.

and the reason its so cheap is because our school gets the wood in bulk so they get it cheaper then you would get it buying it yourself.

also if that site isn't that great i'll just bump the forum back, thanks.

no problem, just a quick google search. I know nothing about ramp building so I'm not sure how it is. If you get the wood in bulk that's a great plus because you can spend your budget on better materials to go on top of the wood.

the price for 2x4 seems low and the ply wood seems a little high. i would use OSB instead of plywood though, it is generally cheaper and stronger just make sure you dont railroad it. google that and you can learn something about wood strength

with 8 foot tranny 4 foot quarter is, 2 sheets of 5/8s plywood 32 bucks. 15 studs 36 bucks. 4 sheets of 3/8s plywood 60 bucks 2 sheets of masonite 30 bucks. Grand total of 158 bucks.

we actually just built the mini ramp from this site at my house, we put 3 sheets of the verticle plywood supports spread out through the quarterpipe. its actually a really easy, and really helpful free plan. it ended up costing about $190 with coping and everything for a full 8 foot wide 4 foot high 20 foot long mini ramp

Wish I would have thought of this when I was in school. Wood shop = cheap ass wood. I would definately top it with masonite as said above, skatelite is expensive and tarps are cheap.

heres a piece of advice: make sure that the ramp is longer than it is tall or else its going to be steep as shit and hard to skate. long and mellow wins the race

he is so right my friend made a 5 ft halfpipe but

didn't make the cut right and it is way to steep, im

good at vert, but it is jus impossible to skate

i made a 12 foot long grindbox in grade 12. we didnt have any plywood so i made the entire thing out of 2x6's so it weights fuckin more than i do
