I heard skateboarding going to be in the Olympic in 2012 in London,England on Fuel T.V. I wonder what their going to have street and vert maybe. Do you think sk8boarding should be in the Olympic?
 
no, i dont like olympics. skateboarding and snowboarding are all about not being main stream and having fun and thats what the olympics isnt. and noone pulls anything amazing. spinning a 1080 like a pencil and slap grabbing ur board at the last second isnt good snowboarding to me

those two sports are basically a marketing team's dream today! put a skateboarder in your ad or sponsor shaun white and your sales increase exponentially! every kid owns at least one skate brand t-shirt regardless if they skateboard or not and everyone that doesn't ski thinks snowboarding's the coolest shit on earth.

 
i hate to be a douche but one person isnt a good representative of the status quo. think of all the kids who wear adios just cuz bam is on mtv.
 
I hope it'll be in the Olympics. Looking forward to having the competitions here, but it'll be better if there's something I'm interested in!
 
true, and think of all the people that own dakine backpacks. practically my whole highschool wears them, and i dont think they all skate.
 
but is bam a good rep of skateboarding? i dont think he is. compared to other pros he is an absolutely shitty skateboarder. and just like in skiing, some of the best athletes aren't going to compete. i can't see pj ladd or derek fukuhara or anyone not concerned wholly about money competing in the olympics. you'll see some great skating from people like chris cole and p rod, but you aren't going to see everything there is to see about skateboarding.

i guess what im saying is the best skateboarders and the ones most concerned about the purity of skateboarding ignore the whole bam popularity thing. except for dyrdek
 
I hope not. It honestly doesn't belong in there because well... the games in the Olympics (aside from snowboarding) have had historic value... as in they've been around forever. This is why the X-Games are here, to pick up on more "fad" sports. By "fad" sports I mean they haven't been around for long. This was the major issue with snowboarding being in there. Not to hate on skateboarding, it's sick as all Hell.
 
I like spotting helipros that have the ski loop hanging out and are roughed up across the back from ski edges, its like yea there goes a skier!
 
they wont have street cause all street cources are diff. thats why they dont hav snowboarding park, only pipe

if they make a pack that is good for skateboarding and is fashionable enough for school, their product will get sold faster.

and almost every kid has at least one skateboard company wear slapped on to there body, look at the majority of shoes that are worn, or if you dont then, what shop do you buy from? what do most of the shops sell in the off season of skiing?

I personally would like to see different sports make it to the olympics, when people think of skateboarding, they think of a halfpipe or rail being skated by tony hawk or bam

there are also skateboarders that skate in different diseplines just like skiing. and probally only one disepline is going to make it in, and im going towards half pipe or big air
 
all (most) good skaters and snowboarders didn't get good because it's the cool thing to do. they stuck with their sport untill they got to the top. so who gives a fuck if it's "mainstream" that means all the money from the little shit disturbers who buy the gear cause it's cool goes into the industry.
 
There are alot of sports at the olympics that have different courses each time. Mountain biking and marathon spring to mind, but I'm sure there are others as well.
 
totally agree. all the kids at my skwl who dont do snowboarding or skiing think ooo u suk cz u ski do snowboarding

(even tho i used 2 snowboard skiing is way better in my eyes)

On the whole Dakine thing - I didn't realise it was even considered cool (by the mindless masses)

I have one of their heli packs for skiing, which is ace. The only other person I know that has one is my best friend, who also has a heli pack for skiing.....

We don't have many skaters or people following skate trends here....they're mostly chavs :(
 
be psyched that snowboarding and streetshredding and bmx etc are in the olympics, seriously. I know itll maybe be diluted, but maybe, just maybe, youll have a group of people who will force change on the establishment.

small chance, but you enevr know.
