Sigma lenses

what do you guys know about them? how is the quality etc?

im deciding whether to get a d90 with a sigma 18-200 and i already have a 50-250 so i could sell that lens. OR a 60d body then buy a lens seperate but i wouldnt have much of any money to buy a lens but ebay is tossing a few cheap ones out so idk, but i was looking and SIGMA lenses (newer ones obv) are cheaper in most cases than stock nikkor/nikon lenses? is this just cause the nikon lens are OEM or are they better than sigma?

+k for help

You cannot generalize over all Sigma lenses, you have to look at individual lenses. Some Sigma lenses are more expensive than the Nikkor equivalent, like the 50mm. Not every lens is designed to have the same quality, and quality is relative to ones priorities. Of course with Nikon you pay a bit for the name, but you also get superior quality control (lower chance of getting a bad copy).

That said, I would not go for a Sigma 18-200. If you want to save money you could go for a double zoom kit?

yeah pretty much all super range lenses like 18-200 have to pay for their range in some other department.
